Last weekend I was in Chicago and it was my first time to listen to the Sox on the radio since Rooney left and Farmer became the play-by-play guy with Singleton.

 

I swear for most of the time that I listened, Farmer did all the talking, providing his own analysis to his play-by-play. Singleton barely spoke.

 

Are the games always like this or did I just catch Chris on a weekend where the cat had his tounge?

 

What are the half-season reviews for these two?

LIttle if any improvement, Singleton acts like he doesnt want to be part of a discussion sometimes, acts like he's insulted when Farmer asks him things just to make him contribute. Farmer has been as expected-Singleton is the worst I have ever heard-and I am pretty old

DJ was bad when he started...Give Singleton time

Mute the TV and broadcast for yourself. If you can't watch the game you're SOL.

I dont know but when i listen Singleton and Farmer dont seem to get along with each other that well. And really Singleton is pretty horrible... I dont think he has improved at all since spring training. And w/out Rooney I cant really stand Farmer anymore as well.... our radio went from great to complete garbage in just 1 season.

I think it's a stretch to say they don't get along but certainly they have differing senses of humor and, really, personalities in general. Singleton is scared to death to say anything that might be controversial, and Farmer doesn't like it when Chris tries to take jabs at him. Meanwhile, Farmer says whatever he thinks and always jokes with Singleton.

The broadcasts aren't getting better. Singleton doesn't know how to get a thought out without falling all over himself, then Farmer has to interupt him to get the call in.

 

I realize that it's only one season, but why couldn't they go out and find a guy who is a professional broadcaster? It's ridiculous. I can't imagine listening to these guys during the playoffs. What would Farmer's World Series call have been I wonder?

What's the complaint anyway? I listen quite a bit now that I have XM and I kind of like Chris and Farmer. They seem to get along fine and Chris is learning.

Chris has improved alot since he first started. He doesnt sound like a robot anymore.

At least he only has four more years left on his deal...

WHY? So he can improve to be a below average broadcaster instead of a horrible one? The guy obviously has no clue regarding what the composition of a broadcast should be, he just says stuff when he's called on to do so. On his very best day, the dude is barely, BARELY passable. On his average day, he is an embarrassment to the organization, the fans and this city.

From the feedback that I hear, it sounds as if I am fortunate that I only get Hawk and DJ down here and the occassional national game on Fox or ESPN. That's too bad about Chris, but it is not surprising given the 2 games that I heard vs. Boston.

 

Right now we need to rebound from that Yankee series!

That's a little over the top IMO. He has shown signs of improvement and I think he has a pleasant voice, an important factor when listening to a radio crew.

I think that he is doing much better than when he had first started (I'm not calling it good by any means, but definitely better). The difference that I noticed has been with the flow of Singleton's talking. To me, it seemed like everything was incredibly choppy when he first started, and he had problems even finishing.... his ......... sentences.

 

I think that he has gotten much better with the flow of his talking, but he still has some work to do.

so now he can talk in complete sentences and that is an improvement lol? Well Im not going to argue I barely ever listen to the radio anyways.

all i can say is, if anyone thinks this guy belongs on radio, the score was right - they could throw literally anyone out there and white sox fans would eventually accept it

You really think so? I actually feel as if he is doing better, I can actually listen to a game now........then again it might be because he is talking less now then at the begining of the season.

I like Chris Singleton. Hes very nice, very polite. But I really would love to see RON KITTLE in the booth or Tom Paciorek again. Either of those 2 and the SOX are good to go again

Yea.. that's just what we need. Instead of someone who may minimally suck at the PBP, let's put in there someone who will not only ignore the game.. but whore their benches and books.
