September 9, 200619 yr I think we could go a few games with out Bobby but for an extended period then we'd be in real trouble.
September 9, 200619 yr Missed the first 8 innings but the 9th was a f***ing roller coaster in itself. AJP!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 9, 200619 yr I missed the game tonight.. I NEED to see the home run and I NEED to hear hawk's call.. why'd this one have to be on a friday night when I decide to have a social life?
September 9, 200619 yr It was appearant from the beginning that Jenks was not going to be able to get anyone out, It was?
September 9, 200619 yr QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 02:01 AM) It was? If you don't think it was then you were not watching him pitch. He was tossing crap up there every pitch he threw was hit hard and it all started with the fluttering cutter he threw on the first pitch.
September 9, 200619 yr there is nothing better than going to a party, seeing the sox lose, going out to smoke, and coming back in to a SOX WINNER YAYA
September 9, 200619 yr Kalapse, with all due respect, you and fathom sometimes act like Oz isn't watching the game. I was watching the game and sensed Bobby still had a chance to get out of it, though I wasn't sure, and Oz left him in. Sometimes I think you guys think Oz is some guy who has never seen a baseball game. Do you realize his experience??? Also just curious .. if Oz had yanked him and brought in a reliever who lost the game, me thinks fathom still woulda blamed Oz. Cause he wouldn't have brought in the reliever you wanted. Personally I'm glad I see in Oz a winner and can go by most of his decisions. You guys seem to want another manager and ifyou got one, believe me, you'd be all over that guy, too, cause they all get second guessed. It's too easy. s*** ... any defeat in sports and you can second guess the skipper. Don't you see that???
September 9, 200619 yr If this game doesn't spark a run (I know, everytime we think that 'moment' will spark an extended run, they fall flat on their faces), nothing will.
September 9, 200619 yr QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 02:40 AM) Also just curious .. if Oz had yanked him and brought in a reliever who lost the game, me thinks fathom still woulda blamed Oz. Cause he wouldn't have brought in the reliever you wanted. This is just incorrect. If Ozzie pulls Jenks before Sizemore comes to the plate and goes to Thornton (who was the only pitcher warming) and Thornton blows the lead? Ozzie would be getting praised right now for making the right decision. You have to remember, we're not just hating on Ozzie because it's a fun thing to do or because we hate him or something he just catches heat for some of the seemingly stupid things he does. Ozzie has been praised a lot in the past by myself, Fathom and any other "Ozzie hater" on this board, there isn't a lot of 2nd guessing going on, it's mostly 1st guessing and when he makes a seemingly stupid move that does not work out, he's going to catch hell for it that's part of a manager's job.
September 9, 200619 yr Everytime I get mad at Ozzie... I think of Buck Showalter and Dusty Baker. It truly makes you appreciative of what you have.
September 9, 200619 yr Woohoo! I watched until the 8th and when I got back to the game it was bottom of the ninth with 2 out one on and AJ at the plate. And of course that was when I fell asleep lol. Good to see they won!
September 9, 200619 yr QUOTE(soxunited @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 12:05 AM) a great win? The closer blew a 2 run lead on double after double and AJ was fortunate enough to face a rookie who has only thrown 13 innings in the majors. If they were facing a team with an established closer, this game would have been over after that 6th run was scored. A win is a win I know, but they were very fortunate to get out of it with a W I'd like to point out that that's not true at all. The White Sox have blown saves for every great AL closer. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 12:07 AM) It's the million dollar question, and we just got a hint. Greasy is one of the legendary "good posters". Milkman...it's like a faction in wrestling. We're like DX when it didn't suck, and he's like the corporate ministry.
September 9, 200619 yr QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 09:58 PM) Ozzie should buy AJ a f***ing car. What a finish, I'm willing to forget everything that happened in the top of the 9th. What a finish. Oh yeah, AJs walkoff last year vs the Dodgers was also on WGN. Unfortunately, my friend, you SHOULDN'T forget what happened at the top of the 9th. It is relatively alarming actually, that our closer was throwing "high school quality" fastballs and got not one single out. Something is definitely wrong with him, and if he ain't telling then Ozzie should beat it out of him. Hopefully Hermanson will get to proper form quickly 'cause we need a closer ASAP. Thornton threw some good cheese though.

But, hey man, re: bold: Ha!

Um, we wanted Thornton to be brought in to face Sizemore. He was the person warming up. The thing is greg, we were stating this stuff well in advance of the Jenks blow-up. There's plenty of time when you can accuse us of second guessing....but this isn't one of them.
September 9, 200619 yr QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 11:14 PM) Jenks needs to get healthy and get right. We have 2 other options that can closer out the 9th until his hip gets better. I am wondering when they will give him a cortisone shot. Thats the next step, so he can pitch free and clear. Did he just say free and queer? (major league II) Great win, can we pleaaaase stop messing around and clinch a playoff spot now

September 9, 200619 yr Fair enough, fathom. If Thornton woulda come in and threw it to the screen then got rapped for a broken bat triple, would you have blamed Oz or Thornton? Just wondering. Pls. be truthful.
September 9, 200619 yr QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 08:48 PM) Fair enough, fathom. If Thornton woulda come in and threw it to the screen then got rapped for a broken bat triple, would you have blamed Oz or Thornton? Just wondering. Pls. be truthful. Nope...once the first two guys got on, that was Thornton's game to win or lose. There's no one else in the bullpen besides him that would have even been an option after Jenks looked so bad against the first two hitters. If Thornton doesn't do the job there, then it's his fault.
September 9, 200619 yr Jenks was supposed to be healty. If he is then what happened? 4 doubles in the 9th and not a guy out. It seems our pitching staff looks for new goats every game

Isnt that kind of funny to say lol.. only hitting 94-95. But yeah he definitely wasnt 100% out there even Hawk said something about it after Jenks first pitch.
