Considering it was -54 here with the windchill the other day -10 is a cakewalk, but 100 sounds pretty good to me these days.

21 years in Illinois and 18 in Florida, so I've been pretty much evenly split between the extremes.

I'll take the heat over the cold, but winter cold and snow never really bugged me. It's the months on end of gray days without enough sun that would get to me after a while. Truth is I'd have never moved if Chicago was coastal, but my gig kinda requires an ocean nearby so Florida it was.

Then again, this age-old aphorism that Grandmama FlaSoxx used to offer up gets to he heart of the up-side of cold winters:

When the weather's hot and sticky

Ain't the time for dunkin' dicky

When the frost is on the pumpkin

That's the time for dicky dunkin'

Had to love old Grandmama. . . :D

I got to thinking, people build saunas in their homes and invite the Swedish Bikini Team. They have freezers and put in turkeys.

Haha, it's 21-21 now.

I can't believe how many people have said "You can always put more clothes on." No, you can't. Not comfortably. I don't know why, but this ticks me off. I'm walking to work today with thermal socks, long johns, pants, shirt, sweatshirt, pullover, coat, scarf, stocking hat, gloves. My face was still cold in the bitter wind. What else could I have put on without having to use a blindman's cane to find my way down the sidewalk? Huh? Really! Ugh! :chair

Chicago is coastal, sort of. I am sure there are marine biologists who make their living studying various things in the Great Lakes.

haha... I read about the colded getting to people but sheesh. Don't get ticked off.... :)

How far do you have to walk? My walk is about 15 minutes....and I just have on Jeans, regular socks, hiking shoes, undershirt, button shirt and my coat. ear clips and gloves. I put my hood up on my coat and I'm all good.

Totally beats the days when I get to work and I'm dripping with sweat all over and I can't take a shower.

If you've lived in Chicago, the answer is yes.

If you've lived almost anywhere in the mid-west, the answer is yes.

Anyway, I'll take the heat and humidity any day. You don't have to shovel sunshine. It's also why pools where invented.

I'm not ticked off at the cold. I'm ticked off at the people that prefer the cold.

Hey that's me! :chair

100 degrees and high humidity is unpleasant. -40 windchills are painful. Plus, if it's 100, you can spend a day in the air conditioning or at the beach and know that in a week, the temps will be back in the 80's. Whereas today, we can look forward to temps getting back in the 20's. I dont' mind winter, but I'll take the summahtime extremes any day.

Unless, of course, you're from Texas.

I take the cold, simply because I've gotten used to it. If I had to deal with 100+ for days and days and days, I'd probably come to hate myself.

I KNOW.

He's got only one eye, what's THAT about?

"I remember the first time I laid eye on you."

I would take the heat over the cold anyday. At least when its super hot out, when the sun goes down you can still go out and enjoy the evening outside. When its -10 below and you go outside at night you need therapy.

Id definitely take the heat any day of the week. I got my mini fans I can take with me and there is always the concept of sitting in the shade. I think both my cats would prefer the heat too ;p

I am surprised there is this much support for the heat. I would have thought that cold would be leading 2:1. Y'all are smarter than I thought.

Give me the cold, I love winter for some reason. Cold weather doesn't bother me at all, I like to ride my bike still as crazy as that sounds.

Heat. This current weather in Chicago is absolutely terrible. I don't understand how anyone can choose this. My hands and feet are cold constantly. Walking to class is painful. Its absolutely horrible.

I worked outside all day long two summers ago when it was 90+ from the beginning of June through August, and I loved it. Nothing better than sitting outside in sandals, shorts, and a t-shirt.

This bundling up in 10 different layers, gloves, hats, scarfs, boots BS just so my fingers don't freeze off sucks. I've been applying to jobs in Hawaii because I hate this winter weather so much.

When it's 10 below and you go outside at all (unless absolutely necessary) you need therapy.

That's what really sucks about winter. My vehicle isn't running quite right and it could be something as simple as changing the spark plugs or the distributor cap but I can't do it because it's too freaking cold!

You're not prepared for this weather then.

All I need to do on my vehicle is swap out the dead dogs with some live ones and yell: MUSH!!!

Then again maybe feeding the dogs would be cheaper...ah well it's almost March.

Did you really think you'd get through an entire winter without at least one, week long deep freeze? Weren't you in the 50's around X-Mas time?
