I would be ok with lesser known portrayals of real people such as Theron in Monster. the task of impersonating one of the most visible figures of the 20th century is not an easy one. I haven't seen it but it appears she did it well.
February 26, 200719 yr O.K., the second you see Coppolla, Lucas, and Speilberg walk on stage together, you know who is going to win. That was one of the best Oscar moments ever though.

February 26, 200719 yr i think the only part of the departed i really hated was the whole "is she pregnant with his baby?" because it really was just kind of tacked on.

I disagree, Casino is a great and classic movie, Departed will never be considered a classic. And I think Dances with Wolves was a great movie, I have no problem with it winning the Oscar that year.
