White Sox vs. Angels, 4/28/07 (L)

Featured Replies

What does Egbert throw? I hope all these low ERAs are a sign of us having some good pitching as opposed to just weak hitting leagues. I've been told that the hitting in the International League is about the worst the league's ever seen.

Some fantastic defense plays that inning. Can we get the tying run up to the dish?

Is it time to bring back the rally chokers already?

You'd be doing this team a disservice though to not field a competent DH. With Thome and Pods not coming back until June, you can't let this team fall too far behind. Considering this is likely our last year to compete for the championship for the next few years, you can't sit on your hands and do nothing.

But you can't sacrifice 2008-2012 either, though. Even with a healthy Thome, the odds are stacked against this team. And that really has nothing to do with this team, per se -- it's just, there are three other very good teams in this division. I know it's a defeatist attitude to say something like this, but chances are we don't win the division.

If you can find a match by trading Broadway, McCollough, Haeger, some of the excess relievers, then by all means go and do it. Who knows, maybe we can find this year's Wayne Krivsky who is willing to give up a very good OFer (Kearns) for a bunch of relievers. Philly is having bullpen trouble -- maybe they'll let us take Pat Burrell off their hands for half the AAA pitching staff.

Can you get a FutureSox interview?

I've been working on it.

It is the Southern Leauge, and yes there is a serious lack of offense there this season. But Egbert's AA numbers between this and last year cannot be ignored.

This is the most pathetic display of hitting I have ever seen. The highest batting average in today's lineup was .250. The next highest is .242. PATHETIC.

Something needs to be done. Our pitching is now our strength and our hitting is garbage. This makes me sick.

Then we might as well hope to struggle enough to be far out of competition by the trade deadline so we can get a return on Buehrle and Dye. There's no excuse to have the odds stacked against this team. KW failed this offseason in regards to 2007.

Wow, F-Rod's velocity seems to be down a bit. Nice to know that there are other players out there who lose velocity...

Too bad he hasn't lost anything on his breaking ball.

Where do we find this competent DH?

Is it really worth giving up too much for one when you consider Thome will be here next season? Even one which isn't highly regarded, we're going to pay more then necessary.

Find a guy who will be a FA after this year or can play in LF. I know some might hate him, but Jacque Jones is someone who could really help this team.

Ick, Alex is up.

Get a walk or something.

I suppose, but if sacrificing one year means we're better in 2008-2012, I'll gladly make that exchange.

I don't know why you think he's failed so much. My only issue with KW is resigning Podsednik. That roster spot can be used for so many better things. But even that's not a collosal mistake -- he'll be gone next year (or should be), and it's a mistake that's only costing us $3 million bucks.

Cintron is SO LOCKED in right now...

Take 2 you can handle, down the cock, then swing at one near your eyebrows...solid.

I hate his guts right now. When you're slumping, don't take first pitch fastballs right down the middle.

Cintron brings nothing to the table!

The only spot KW upgraded this team was at back-up catcher, but Ozzie ruined that. He didn't significantly improve our starting spot, relief core, or offense.

Do you have any faith in Ozzie handling this DH debacle the right way?

OK, not that it mattered...but that sure as f*** wasn't a strike..

Absolutely brutal call.

Can't really fault Uribe for not swinging at that.

?

Aardsma? Masset?

What an awful call. That's terrible.

Wow, that pitch wasn't even close. Nothing more pathetic than a game decided on the first batter. We're screwed!

Great showing on WGN ............that last call was bulls***!
