Weathers lessens the burden on them, so they can build up their confidence by not having to pitch in the 8th or 9th all the time. Who would you rather see on in the 9th in this particular game? Weathers has walked 8 batters this season. Aardsma has given 15 a free pass, and same with MacDougal.

In his April Mr. Weathers mopped up against the Cubs, Pirates, St. Louis in the cold.

In the Month of may he has a 5.14 ERA. Sure lets give them Gio and Eggs for him.

this Chicago sports mentality "fire the coach. fire the coach!! It's really old and tired. If Mac and Ardsma strike out everyone they face, ozzies a god.

You're nuts it is not just today this has been along time coming, I do not give a s*** about just today!

He allowed 6 runs in his last appearance. It was 2.08 before that. Think further than straight-up numbers with these guys, they can be skewed. A reliever can toss 20 scoreless innings, give up 5 runs in an inning and see his ERA jump by 2.

2 weeks ago you could of said that about our pen. They all had some sexy numbers. So why trade, when we can have our poop and keep our prospects.

Jenks. This is a game you have to win, and you use him for two innings, at least.

It's coming early, last year the White Sox being swept (and passed) by the Twins was the harbinger of doom, this year it's not even June and the Sox are Dead Man Walking.

There's only a handful of players on this team that even consistently hustled...Ozuna, Erstad, Sweeney, Thome and Terrero.

The obvious low point of a lackluster 2 months. It is getting away from them and I dont see a spark that would enable a recovery from this. Those hard throwing guys were available for a reason. I'd rather watch a scrappy hungary learning team than this. We were a third place team last year and while others improved, we counted on career years again. Aint happening.

Would he even cost that much? And in his AWFUL May, he had allowed 2 runs in 12 2/3 up before the last outing. TERRIBLE. Or a single bad inning?

i defend ozzie and personally think all the people on this site that blast him and say he needs to be fired are ridiculous, but going to aardsma instead of jenks in that situation is just a horrid managerial decision

Somebody except the closer pitching the 9th is accepted baseball managing mentality. Everyone does it, saving the closer for later. The obvious question is, "How do you get to later?" Like sliding into first, this mentality probably won't go away and madden many, many people.

until we improve our drafting, player development and minor league system, we're going to struggle to be consistent.

Ha, don't expect much consistency from any of those departments within the immediate future. At the least, this upcoming amateur draft will provide tangible evidence that methods for evaluating talent has changed. Have to begin somwhere, I suppose.

Atleast you can say we'll have an easy time in Toronto. Oh, wait, we're facing Halladay and Burnett? Not good.

I have no problem at all with MacDougal starting that inning. It was one of the rare teams I'll say Ozzie made the right move. However, after Logan got Morneau out, you have to bring in Jenks. Not only do you hope he gets Hunter, but you also have your 3-4-5 up in the next inning. Then, if you score, he can go the next inning easily. Ozzie is a terrible manager, and he proves it far too often.

can't keep counting on rejects from other teams -- like Sisco, Aardsma, MacDougal, Masset, Cintron, Pods, Toby Hall.

Oakland didn't want to keep Dye

nobody else wanted Iguchi

Colorado gave up on Uribe

Arizona wouldn't start Cintron at SS

LA bailed on Erstad's huge contract

droves of people weren't after AJ, Hermanson or El Duque

Jenks was waived by Angels

Contreras was dumped for Loaiza, even though Esteban's arm was falling off

Seattle gave up on Thornton

Really, the only "desired" players on our team were Crede, Konerko (after two other organizations threw in the towel), Thome (after Philadelphia dumped him for Howard), Buehrle, Garland, Vazquez (by KW and a few GM's who have fallen in love with him) and Danks, pretty much.

Except we lost that CHIP ON OUR SHOULDER sometime in the late October nights of 05...and really lost it around the All-Star break of 06.

This team is in 4th place going NOWHERE fast, I am glad you are happy with Guillen overall performance because you are in the minority!

Yeah, he couldnt hit the strike zone all series. Good call!

If he feels like we're getting squeezed, he needs to get off of his ass and get tossed. He should be trying anything he possibly can in order to fire up the team.

Scioscia almost always uses K-Rod to "shorten the game" in these situations, despite their fine bullpen.

And Gardenhire used Nathan in a tie game, although it was "at home."

Seriously, what part of this series did he lose for us? The offense couldnt produce when needed and the pitching walked over 20 guys. Thats why we lost. It wasnt bullpen moves, it wasnt subbing, it wasnt whatever else you think he is responsible for. The players lost this series, pure and simple.

im not saying we would of won that game, but bringing in jenks, who is more likely to get out of that situation than david aardsma is, could of extended the game, and gave our offense a shot

yea but ozzie could of brought in jenks and wouldnt have to worry about anything. jenks hasnt pitched in what, 8 days?

ah he coulda. Nice philosophy. No other manager in baseball would have kept their closer on the bench in hopes we get a run the next inning with the heart of our order up. s*** who even knows if Bobby is healthy, oh wait, everyone on Soxtalk knows.
