April 5, 200818 yr Daniel Cortes is the 57th ranked prospect by Baseball America. Cortes is a Royal but was drafted by the White Sox and traded along with Tyler Lumsden to the Royals for MacDougall. The interest thing is Lumsden was the key piece (he was having a tremendous minor league season at the time of the deal) but Cortes, who was a sleeper of FutureSox's has really turned into the big player of that deal. He's a big righty who gets great sink on a good fastball. Just wanted to point it out, since people will be talking about Gio/DSL (pitchers the Sox have traded) but realistically Cortes has just as good of a chance as the other and Cortes has a very better pitchers build (ranked 3 spots ahead of DSL in the top 100).
April 8, 200818 yr I don't know if this was posted, but Baseball-Reference recently added Minor league stats to their database. So now you can easily search for minor league stats on there as well. I know there are other places to do this already, so this is just FYI. http://minors.baseball-reference.com/ http://minors.baseball-reference.com/affiliates.cgi?aid=CHW Also, I completely forgot that Jon Rauch won BA Minor League POY in 2000.
April 8, 200818 yr So, this is kind of funny. If you look at the Charlotte roster, they only have 3 outfielders, one of which (Collaro) was demoted to B-Ham. They have 8 infielders, and not one of them is a shortstop. What is going on down there?

April 9, 200818 yr QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 11:29 AM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3336898 One of the Braves top prospects (top 30 by BA) got busted for HGH. 50 game suspension Interesting, the article says nothing of HOW they caught him.
April 9, 200818 yr QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 11:36 AM) Interesting, the article says nothing of HOW they caught him. I was wondering the same thing. Hopefully someone else can find out something about this.
April 10, 200818 yr QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 06:14 PM) Andrew Sisco having "tommy john" surgery? Is that a question or a statement? Source?
April 11, 200818 yr 10 IP, 4 R (0 ER), 7 K, 2 BB, 5 hits for Porcello in 2 starts. Can't hate the WHIP, but it's early. Impressive for his age and experience so far though.
April 12, 200818 yr QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 11, 2008 -> 02:44 PM) 10 IP, 4 R (0 ER), 7 K, 2 BB, 5 hits for Porcello in 2 starts. Can't hate the WHIP, but it's early. Impressive for his age and experience so far though. My guy, Alderson (who I'll admit doesn't have the ceiling of Porcello) has some similar numbers at the same level/age ... 10 IP, 6 H, 3 R (2 ER), 2BB, 6 K.
April 19, 200817 yr Max Scherzer topped BA's Prospect Hot Sheet. Solid. I still think he has the best fastball I've seen in person. Link
May 29, 200817 yr Anyone hear anything about Donny Lucy? He was injured on May 1st, it was called a dislocated knee cap, and I can't find any word at all about his situation. Heck, on the Charlotte Knights website, he's still listed as "Active" on the roster.
May 29, 200817 yr QUOTE (JFields27 @ May 29, 2008 -> 11:30 AM) It says Lucy is on the 7 Day DL now 7 Days? Weird. Gotta be longer than that. Well, maybe it doesn't, I don't know. Just sounded pretty ugly.
May 29, 200817 yr QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 29, 2008 -> 02:38 PM) I thought I remember reading he was out for the year. I would have thought so, but the only place I read that was speculation in here. I can't find any articles on it.
