From the DVD folder, watched Dead Poets society and have proclaimed Robin Williams as the most underrated actor of our generation.

He has talent but picks too many lame movies to work on.

If anyone decided to see . . . Benjamin Button, resists the urge to walk out after the first 30 minutes. The final two hours was breathtaking ;) . Seriously, I like chick flicks, with a chick, and this one did not disappoint. They "solved" some of the reality to movie issues in a rather pleasing way.

It's no more a chick-flick than Forrest Gump. What was wrong with the first thirty minutes?

That's "The Wrestler" in a nutshell, really well said.

The movie is an interesting little window into the wrestling world, but it doesn't really deliver much else. (except Marisa Tomei, who looks amazing naked even though she has pretty large nipples). The ending was perhaps a little over dramatic, but still satisfying on any important level.

The force behind this movie is Rourke and his portrayal of the wrestling version of himself. Rourke bulked up like a madman for this role (i think) and was able to pull off the feel of the "broken down piece of meat" look that this movie required. Rourke looks like the ultimate warrior without the face paint, but his ability to convey innocence, ignorance, vulnerability and sincerity through that facade is the real core of the character. Maybe Rourke was so good because his career mirrors that of "Randy The Ram's" but in any count... it is a brilliant performance.

Go see "The Wrestler" for Rourke, Tomei, and the Wrestling Scenes (I haven't watched wrestling since I was ten), don't go see it for the great story. There are some great nuggets of the underbelly of wrestling, but everything else is too underdeveloped to really care about and feels forced.

3.5/4 over sized nipples.

You just talked me out of it....and I'm a huge fan of Tomei and her big nipples.

I have no interest in a wrestling movie and was really hoping the story and the supporting cast was strong.

Perhaps it was just us, but we had this feeling of watching Forrest Gump in reverse and perhaps dreaded a couple more hours of this. There really wasn't anything wrong with the first thirty from the movie side. I did think the pace from "birth" until perhaps his mid 50s was slow to develop. We both found ourselves thinking ahead and wondering how they would handle 18- death. It seemed to work for us.

I enjoyed the movie overall and never felt bored or "when is this going to end," but in the end it just doesn't stand out in my mind.

I still need to see Doubt, Frost/ Nixon and The Wrestler. This happens every year. 5 or 6 movies I want to see all come out at once, and then garbage for the next 10 months.

The Producers Guild of America announced nominations for film awards today which is a pretty good indicator for the Oscars' Best Picture race. 4 out of 5 nominees went on to earn Best Picture nominations the last four years.

Wow. You seem to gravitate to a lot of bad movies. :P

A lot of them were when I was hunting in the UP and had no choice or over Winter Break when I was really bored.

Went to see The Wrestler last night, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought Rourke was phenomenal in his role. And everything in the movie worked perfectly IMO. As a wrestling fan, the behind the scenes stuff was a nice touch.

'Revolutionary Road' was disappointing to say the least.

"Benjamin Button" bored the crap out o fme.

Since Soxtalk went down, I think I've seen two movies. Valkyrie was pretty good, and it had a really great cast. I really like Eddie Izzard in serious roles (I enjoyed The Riches). Bill Nighy was damn good, and that bald actor impressed me, too. Tom Wilkinson did a very good job, as usual. I really want to see that man win an Oscar some day.

Gran Torino was entertaining as hell. Clint Eastwood was great in it, and it had some awesome lines.

best actor....definitely no. I only thought the movie was decent because of his performance....without him I thought it was s***.

After seeing it, I completely agree with this. Not that I didn't believe you in the first place.

It's all opinion anyway... I really wanted to like it a lot, but couldn't. Clint Eastwood's performance was entertaining, and there were some great lines of dialogue from his character. I give it a 6.5/10

For entertaining me, I'd give it an 8. Eastwood has that "cowboy" role nailed down. The lone stranger thing just suits him.

eh...I haven't really seen too many Eastwood films, I'd probably have a different opinion if I had.

Saw Slumdog today. It was decent. I didn't like the end however. It was good but not great.

I watched that and Benjamin Button over the last few days. I loved both movies, both were really great.

What didnt you like about it? It was my fav movie of 2008 (so far). It just seemed after all the crap the kid went through (even literally!) that the ending was way deserved.

You liked Slumdog more than the Wrestler?
