elrockinMT
Just saw this posted on The Chicago Cubune. I thought Gonzalez would be out before Terrero Originally posted: October 3, 2007 Terrero, Reynoso outrighted By Mark Gonzales, 1:42 p.m. PHILADELPHIA -- The White Sox opened two spots on their 40-man roster Wednesday by outrighting outfielder Luis Terrero and left-handed reliever Paulino Reynoso to Triple-A Charlotte. Terrero, 27, declined the assignment and can become a free agent. Terrero, 27, was injured for most of the second half and finished with a .231 batting average with five home runs and 12 RBIs in 61 games last season. The Sox kept Reynoso, 27, on their 40-man roster despite not promoting him to the majors. He was 3-0 with a 4.09 ERA in 21 relief appearances for the Knights. Both players were out of minor league options. The moves put the Sox's 40-man roster at 38.
BigSqwert
I hope we find the technology to clone Erstad to fill up the 2 openings.
southsider2k5
It has begun. I figured Luis was on his way out after they just completely quit playing him and talking about him. I am not sure what they didn't like about him, but something rubbed someone the wrong way. I am also glad to see Reynoso finally off of the 40 man roster. I honestly can't wait until after the Series is over so we can see what happens to the Sox this off season.
Chisoxfn
I doubt we will see Gonzo removed from the 40, but I'd have no problem if he was removed from it.
NorthSideSox72
I suppose other things may be in the works, but, I don't see what they see in Gonzalez. I can't imagine why he needs to take up a space on the 40-man roster.

elrockinMT
I thought Ozzie liked Luis Terrero too!? So I am not sure what happened there, but I am guesing for sure that Erstad is back. He is a past gold glove winner so defense should still be a strength. Health is anyone's guess though. Now Gonzalez that's another issue. He can't play thirdbase and watching him at bat he looked lost. I am really looking forward to off season moves also. Thinking it will be fun. I would much rather have Terrero than Erstad. Cheaper, plus more potential. LT looked to be pretty good defensively, you can correct me if im wrong since i dont get sox games too much (only wgn). I dont mind paying Erstad $1 mill, but 3.5 is alot for a backup who is below average at what he does (little speed, no pop, very injury prone, and doesnt hit for a high average.) 29andPoplar
Cutting ties with Terrero has nothing to do with retaining Erstad or not. They felt Terrero might blossom, possibly into a full time or semi-full time player at one of the OF positions. They found out he is what he is though. He did not progress at the plate, he still has the same problems he's always had which have kept him from consistent major league playing time. Things like poor plate discipline, shortening his swing, striking out too much.

I agree....but the writing was on the wall when he hardly got any playing time over the last month of the season. I hope our entire bench is sent packing, but it won't happen. witesoxfan
I know the truth, and that is that he obviously must be white. Otherwise Ozzie would have had to have played him more.
RME JICO
Even though the article is from the Trib, it's funny seeing it come from Philly. Are those two slots for Gooch and Rowand?

BearSox
I am not a big fan of cutting ties with Terrero, I thought he would be a good 4th or 5th OF... maybe this still gives hope for Brian Anderson? Nah, odds are Erstad will be back. We can try and deny it all we want, but we all know deep down Erstad will be back.

BearSox
QUOTE(SEALgep @ Oct 4, 2007 -> 06:31 PM) As a fourth outfielder and backup 1B, why not? then that would mean Jerry Owens being our starting CF, since Ozzie and KW love him as well, and I think his good final month almost guaranteed him a roster. Plus, like someone else stated, if Erstad is still on this team, he will be getting way too much playing time. And, Jerry Owens is not starting leadoff hitter quality. We need someone who is proven and can slug over .400. I got no problem with Owens on the bench as a pinch runner late in games and such and a spot start here or there, but thats all.
