Well, good they got something for him. And Mota, let's be clear - he has pitched only ONE year.
January 28, 200818 yr Author I know. I didn't really expect anything more. Maybe the Sox will get lucky on one of these guys. It could happen.

Mota was an outfielder that they converted. Supposedly he has 95 mph heat. He was rated their best outfield arm back in 04. From Soxprospects.com Willy Mota Miguel Socolovich had TJ surgery in 05.

Also, Socolovich has played TWO seasons, not four, and was at AA already at 21. Where did you get your information on those two?
January 28, 200818 yr "Mota was 5-3, 2.60 with one save in 17 relief appearances at Single-A Lowell in 2007, his first season as a pitcher after four years playing the outfield in the Red Sox organization. Socolovich split the year between two Single-A teams, going 2-2, 6.65 in 11 games at Greenville and 5-4, 3.56 in 14 games/13 starts at Lowell. He has been in the Boston system for four seasons." right from the link so 5 years (1 pitching) for Mota and 4 years for Socolovich meh
January 28, 200818 yr Its about all you could expect for Aardsma. Maybe one of these guys pans out, although it is doubtful.

Or the article could be. I haven't followed SSI's link yet.
January 28, 200818 yr Looks like Baseball Cube didn't include his 2 GCL/VSL years for some reason. Not sure if they missed them, or they don't count them as pro ball or something. Anyway, my source was off there - my bad.

January 28, 200818 yr So we got two lottery tickets for a guy who we were going to let walk away in the first place. That is fine with me.
January 28, 200818 yr QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 28, 2008 -> 11:05 AM) So we got two lottery tickets for a guy who we were going to let walk away in the first place. That is fine with me. ^^^. I was going to be pretty surprised if we couldn't pull off something like this, with as good of an arm as Aardsma has. So, just in advance, who do we blame when AA turns his career around and they move Papelbon to the rotation to make room for him?
January 28, 200818 yr It sounds like we got a bunch of crap for him, which should be all we expect to get back for him.

January 28, 200818 yr It's good to get something for him. Let's just hope this isn't a two dimes for one quarter trade cuz, y'know...two is better than one.
January 28, 200818 yr Aardsma was gone anyway, so getting anything, regardless of their talent, is better than getting nothing.
January 28, 200818 yr IMO, we shoulda seen if we coulda flipped him back to the Cubs for Neal Cotts... then had Cotts compete with Thornton and Logan for a bullpen spot.... but that's just me.

With that awful year he had in the NL he can't possibly pitch in the AL
January 28, 200818 yr I suprised there are not more irate sox fans. Isn't this board conditioned to b**** about any move KW makes? OT: I thought KW hates minor leaguers.
