When Jack was drunk at the hospital, he says, "go find my father and see if he's more drunk than me right now", or something along those lines. But it was a flash forward into the future when Jack had a beard, so clearly his father is dead when he says this. Is it a clue to something?

I can see it from both sides: Firstly, like you said he was drunk so he wasn't in a great state of mind and might have just been spouting off about his dad; also, no one actually confirms his father being alove.

 

Otherwise, as we know Jack founds his dad's coffin but without a body. He has "seen" his dad alive on the island even if it may only be visions. So there is no direct proof that his father isn't dead but in all likelyhood I would have to go with the fact that he was just drunk and wasted from the oxycontin

Even as he says it he points in a direction, as if his dad can be found in another part of the hospital. But like you said AHSF, maybe he was so messed up he halucinated again. And from the scrolling notes at the bottom of last night's episode, they confirmed his dad drank himself to death.

I have to say, I'm really sick of Jack and Kate. The whole love triangle thing is just lame, and Jack makes dumb decision after dumb decision.

Guys, Jack was f'd up on Oxycodon, he clearly didn't know what was going on. The producers have repeated the fact that Christian Shepard is dead...it meant nothing, it was also to reinforce the fact in that episode that it was a flashback, even though it obviously wasn't.

Hugo is one of the "Oceanic Six" that got rescued with Jack and Kate. Commercial. No clue who the other three are as of yet. Commercial. Hugo is in a psyche ward now after a high speed chase with cops. Commercial. He is traumatized by the island and everything. So much happens, you should just watch it online tomorrow or the weekend. Ended with a "rescuer" jumping down and asking Jack, "Are you Jack?" Went black before he answered. Good episode. Lots more happened than this but it would take up a lot of bandwith.

Flash-forward: After getting back to the real world, Hurley sees Charlie in a 7-11 and goes crazy. He checks back in to the mental institution he was at before. Charlie shows up again at the mental institution and admits that he is dead, but also there. Whatever. Some dude in a suit also shows up to talk to Hurley and asks him WHERE THEY ARE but Hurley causes a scene and the guy leaves. At the end, Jack shows up to confirm that Hurley 'didn't say anything'. Hurley tells Jack that should have gone back; Jack responds that they will never go back. Jack mentions that he plans to grow a beard, implying this is pre-crazy Jack from the other flash-forward.

 

In the present, "dead" Naomi manages to sneak off. Jack+Rousseau+Ben track one blood trail while Kate tracks another. Kate went the right way and is ambushed by Naomi. Naomi takes the awesome phone and configures it so the "rescue ship" can locate them. Then she dies.

 

Desmond gets out of the ocean and tells Jin/Sayid/Hurley/Sawyer that Charlie is dead and that the "rescue ship" is a lie. They all march off to tell Jack. Hurley gets separated because he's so slow and runs into the Jacob Shack and eventually Locke. Locke agrees that the rescue ship is BS and joins the "let's tell Jack" convoy. The convoy meets up with Jack and Hurley mumbles something about how Charlie changed his mind about the ship and he is going to go with Locke to hide because they don't want to meet the ship people. He does a horrible job of explaining this and doesn't elaborate at all and as a result, only a few people join the Hidey Group (including Sawyer and Claire).

 

Jack and Kate hear a helicopter and a guy jumps out and says hi. The end.

I think they planned originally on this being a 2-hour season premiere, but because of the writer's strike (and the fact that they only have 8 episodes now), decided to make it just one episode, which hurt it as a "season premier."

 

The first half of it was crap in my opinion. Second half was better, but for a really huge show (and a long layoff), this was not a good season premier.

I agree that originally they had probably planned a 2 hour premiere. It wasnt that great of a premiere but tghats because this was more of a "set-up" episode that was needed to lead into the season, IMO.

i thought it was a great episode and continued in the tradition of totally mind-f***ing us

The thing I thought was dumb was Sayid was convinced the boat was trouble but then he stayed on the beach.....

 

The Ben Linus role was really good.
