KW gets his head out of his ass and realizes midseason that we are not contenders and trades some of our aging bats/pitchers to solidify our farm system and ACTUALLY be contenders down the road. either that or KW gets fired

 

who do you consider the "aging bats/pitchers" ... Konerko, Dye? The two players who will have no trade clauses at midseason .. KW head is currently outside his ass. We were going no where if we just did nothing this offseason and actually had a mentality of lets just wait for the kids like sweeney, gio to develop. If there is any trade at midseason its that we still have MacDog and Contreras actually does good where we try to ditch those two for something(together or separately)

Thome as a Sox veteran will kick ass this year, be a real leader, and realize his time is running out and demand excellence from everybody and lead us to the playoffs.

I'll get it started.

 

Early July, Jim Thome goes down for an extended period of time in a heated pennant race and in a surprise move Kenny Williams makes a trade that nets us Frank Thomas, who proceeds to go on a terror that leads the Sox into the playoffs. But it all comes to a screeching halt with a first round loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.

That is an interesting way to say it.

 

A bold prediction at this point would be if the Sox made the playoffs. From 72 wins to the playoffs is a pretty big leap in one offseason. Individual honors: Vazquez wins the Cy Young, Ramirez turns into Soriano2, Swisher is AL MVP, and Anderson wins a GG in Center.

Wild/Bold Predictions

My prediction is that the team succeeds or fails depending on Contreras. If he has another 2007 we are doomed. If he has anything like his 05/first half 06 stuff we could make some noise.

 

I still think we're going to be third place at best but WHO CARES it's baseball time, baby!!!!

Joe Crede produces and instead of trading him KW re-signs him to a 4 year deal. He also trades Josh Fields for Tim Lincecum who dominates and helps the Sox make the playoffs.

Carl Everett is back with the Sox........ok maybe that's too wild.

 

We're in contention in July still and we trade to help solidify our pitching rotation.

Didn't read the whole thread so sorry if this is a repeat.

 

By the end of the season, if not sooner, fans will be clamoring for an outfield of Swisher-Anderson-Quentin. Dye will have a lousy season and the Sox won't be able to dump him.

They Sox will resign Freddy Garcia mid-season and he will lead a comeback by the Sox in August and September to capure the AL Wildcard.

I had two almost right.

The world series will be renamed The U.S. Cellular Series in part of a huge block from google against microsoft.

 

Thome will hit a ball into the lights, causing sparks and mass mayhem the sox have not seen since disco demolition night.

That was actually going to be one of mind, well, kinda.

 

-Egbert will pitch more than 50 innings this season for the Sox.

 

-Danks will be the odd man out for most of the season.

 

-Anderson stick around the organization until June, and after he has a solid start to AAA, he is traded for something of value.

 

*-Contreras has a 1st half revival, but most of us know it probably won't last all season, yet the organization can't get a replacement for someone who is going good at the moment.

 

-Fights ensue on Soxtalk when posters consistently fight about the Linebrink signing, with the doubters saying I told you so due to his disappointing season.

 

-Crede is traded, and has a decent season in San Fran. When Fields has a bad few weeks, the "I wish we still had Crede" posts come pop up.

 

-Garcia is signed for dirt around May, basically paying him to rehab, hoping he can make a come back in August, September.
