Loved the move from the start, and it's only getting better and better. It's awesome that the Sox have him locked up through 2012, because I'm going to enjoy every year of it.

There seems to be a Jose Valentin statue in the works. It would be an excellent addition to the stadium.

I can contribute to this thread too. Swisher was incredible tonight, if it's anything but freezing cold tonight he's 3 for 3 with a walk and the game tying homer. Defense was outstanding tonight, and the only reason we stayed close and kept their run total below about 5. Boone did a GREAT job to give us a chance late in cleaning up a nasty 1st and 2nd 0 out mess. Dotel looked pretty good.

The pitching was excellent. It was nice to see Mark and the pen pitch well.

I'll personally disagree with you Jas, but I know what your saying. But from what I've read, and seen from Josh and from what I've said in the past.. he'll have a few all-star apperances before it's all said and done. Just too much athletic, raw talent, still learning the game also.

Fields has the "potential" to be better. We keep getting these debates started when one person talks about today (Jas) while the other talks about the future. (SoxAce) Unless there was something else in Jas post that you disagreed with.

Today, the Sox have an excellent guy playing 3b every day and the heir apparent who is on the cusp of what should be a great career.

I feel much better losing a game 2-1 than 10-8. You always have a shot with good pitching.

Our last time through the rotation, our starters have given up this many runs:

4

0

0

2

0

On top of that, 1 of Jose's runs was given up after he left and Logan came in. None have gone less than 6+ innings.

I've said it several times in several places, and I like saying it...I feel really good about this team right now.

Yep. They're basically a hybrid of the '05 and '06 teams. The pitching and hitting isn't as strong, respectively, but the combination of the two is probably good enough to take them to the playoffs.

And the defense as currently aligned is also pretty damn good too. I'm hoping this team can go on a run and separate a bit from Cleveland and Detroit while they're scuffling/scuffled, because I still consider those two the teams to beat in the AL Central.

Add a "1" at the end of that.

Our starters have given up 3 runs in their last 5 outings. That's 3 runs in 36.1 innings. That's an ERA of 0.74.

It's been a nice start so far and the team has been enjoyable to watch...just found it interesting that the negative thread was longer...

Yeah, seems like someone has gotten through to Kenny and Ozzie.

I still think speed is nice, but if it comes in the form of Jerry Owens, keep giving me Nick Swisher.

Sox lead the AL in runs/game, which is pretty crazy considering they're also only 12/14 in BA at .246 (and 24th in MLB).

I don't even know if this should go in the positive or the negative thread. It's the ultimate glass half empty/glass half full.

Gavin Floyd is pitching really well and the tigers, twins and royals lost tonight.

Well I think the royals are still playing, but theyre losing.

We've gotta try to keep the ositove thread above the negative thread!

Floyd pitched a really nice game yesterday (until the Markakis home run, but hey, Markakis is a beast and he was cruising until then). Cold weather wasn't a factor this time either, it was probably close to 80 degrees here yesterday.

Oh, I pointed out to the guys next to me that Floyd was from here and the guy next to me says "yeah, I played baseball with him in high school." Heh... turns out I was sitting in a section full of the Gavin Floyd local fan club.

At least that game only took 2 hours to watch.

Hopefully that Black Cat that ran past the Yankees Dugout does the same magic that it did to the 69 Cubs :)

Oh Yeah

Sox -

Twins 2

Royals 2.5

Indians 3.5

Tigers 4.0

If nothing else I was happy to see the Sox approach at the plate looking WAY better last night against Wang, than it ever has before. They really got his pitch count up, but just couldn't deliver the knockout punch early. The other nice thing was that Contreras really turned it around after a bad couple of early innings.

The Count looked decent last night. If we play like that all the time we will win alot of games. I saw 3 Hr's knock us out of it, and 2 of them I personally thought were just nice swings to LF.

Everybody here would have laughed if that was a prediction leaving Spring training. Gotta love that we still play the games.
