Tigers @ White Sox 9-14-08 GM 1

This system will likely be here most of day, but moving fast enough that may be able to play tonite if field is playable-there's been over 7 inches of rain at O'Hare just til now with maybe 1 or 2 more inches to come today so the field may not be safe.

I think they'll wait as long as they have to get at least one in today, and expect that the players would waive whatever rules would stand in the way of getting at least one off the books now.

DH on the 29th maybe?

If it matters, it may not...also the odds of rain in NY are always good

I am glad that in a tight race we can't move up north to play our home game under a retractable roof up north. But rest assured that the cubbies, who were not playing a home game will get home cooking. They could of moved the Astro game to the Atlanta area and made it more netural than having this situation play out.

Play the radar map in motion.

http://www.weather.com/weather/map/interac...pnav_undeclared

Based on it's current direction and speed looks like 2-3 more hours of rain and then nothing in site. I hope that field drains well!! (which I believe it does)

You could get the 1 p.m. game in at 3 p.m. conceivably. That system is moving a bit faster than I would have expected.

Makes the effort of clearing out the stadium for the 7 p.m. game almost impossible. Given that the Sox have to travel tonight, they will need to start as close to 7 p.m. as possible.

In the event we actually play 2 today. Statmandu's thread has revealed 3 time in White Sox history that the Sox have swept a doubleheader on this date.

i dont see anyway they will get 2 in today....i live right by the cell and its been pouring all morning

We might just need to stretch our idea of what playable conditions are.

Guarantee the Bears will be playing.

I also guarantee that the Bears are in Carolina, not Chicago.

Meant to say, "would"

Just call these games. The streets are too dangerous for fans to be driving to the Cell, and there's no way the field will be safe for the players.

While we get rained out the Twins win their Saturday DH and are now in first place

I might need to correct myself. Looking at the standings today the Sox were still in 1st lace .001 percentage points in front. Plus we are one game ahead in the loss column. However to get rained out again gives us three games to make up I believe and the way this race is going we just might be doing all three at the end of the regular season. Maybe they wouldn't have to be made up if we have a full two game lead at the end of the season, if my math is right.

If they need to play 3 at the end, they'd need to be at least 4 games up to not play them.

I was thinking that every game we play and the Twinkies don't would mean a 1/2 game plus or minus in the standings and not a full game difference. Not sure that is right though

FROM THE TRIBUNE

The forecast is for more rain, meaning the entire three-game series against the Tigers might be played after the regular season ends Sept. 28. They have no common days off between now and then.

If the division race is still undecided then, the games will have to be made up, which would happen before a possible playoff game with the Twins if there is an AL Central tie.

"Just be up by four games at the end of the season, and then you don't have to play those games," Guillen said. "It's not something the players should be concerned or worried about because they have to take it one game at a time, and hopefully it'll work out for the best."

Somebodies math is wrong and it was never my strong point

Its going to be a straight DH beginning at 4. The field looks fine. The radar also indicates the rain should be ending soon.

I'll be at the game behind the big screen TV in my liivng room tonight on ESPN

I'll be heading down to the game(s) following the Bears game. Wish me luck.

looks like we're about to be up two games in the loss column before our games start, not exactly a bad thing

edit: the 7+ ERA guy who dominated us in baltimore, has a 4 hitter going against the twins

hilarious

If we don't get these 2 games in, than we would only have to be up 2 games on the Twins to not have to play them, right? Each game the Twins play that we don't would only be .5 game each. My head hurts.

Correct, which is about 2 full games.
