Farmer needs to pull a Vin Scully and fly solo. It would be monumental radio and I wouldn't even bother flipping the tv on to watch a game ever again.

well that's a shame. honestly, i liked DJ... but i think that's just because he's really the only thing I've known. I was only 13 when he took over in 2000. So my only memories of watching sox games on tv are Hawk & DJ.

hopefully we get a real PBP guy for the radio now... I like Stone a lot as an announcer, but as a radio guy, he was terrible, IMO. I remember coming home several times, turning on the sox game, and not finding out what the score was until I got home 20 minutes later.

 

I hope we can get someone like Pat Hughes to be our PBP guy.

I can't imagine anything worse. Farmer is probably the worst guy on radio in MLB at this point.

I really like DJ, but there is zero chemistry with Hawk. I am sad this is happening, but the Sox TV booth is better for it.

I hate to say this but the reason the announcement is now is the same reason Sarah Palin had her first one on one interview right now... hurricane taking people's minds off things somewhat, shoulders the blow (in her case for her slipups that happened in said interview)

I don't know about it. Hawk and Stone both have some pretty big egos. Hawk is also the ultimate company man and is close with Reinsdorf. Stone calls it likes he sees it and is not afraid of challenging players or management.

Also this may sound kind of silly, but I know Cubs fans who just flipping around would keep the TV on a Sox game just to hear Stone's voice. Lot of Cubs fans still like him.

 

Higher ratings=more ad $, and then more $ that JR is willing to spend on players.

Agreed. I appreciate what Hawk is and has done for the Sox, but I'm much more willing to turn the page on him than I am on DJ.

I sat on the fan deck for Tues game when Hawk and DJ did the game from out there. Hawk & DJ were taken pictures between innings with a lot of fans and signing autographs. They both didnt talk to much to each other between innings makes me wonder how much they really like one another

If it turns out that Hawk ran DJ out after running Wimpy out, I'll be pissed. The guy is a hack announcer. He must have pictures of Reinsdorf of Boyer or who ever makes the decision.

Sorry to hear about DJ. But happy to hear about Stoney with Hawk. What a matchup! DJ will land somewhere else and thrive. Look at what Singleton is doing on ESPN.

Not a big surprise here, as this was rumored prior.

I agree, Stone is good, but I really like DJ, even if he goes to the radio, I can't get the games, so it doesn't matter to me. I hope he gets a job somewhere.

dj is not the one that needs to be replaced,, I can't stand hawk. pacioric i miss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How many times do we have to hear his 40 year old stories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People have such strong feelings because we all watch a lot of games, and therefore, we have to listen to these guys all the time. I can't believe someone wouldn't have a strong feeling either way.

That would be Hawk. Look at how he trashed Manuel after he was gone.

Well, hope things turn out well for DJ and hope we can get a solid presence in the radio booth next year...but I have no problem adding baseball's best color man to our TV booth.
