Any fan can find a traveling call during a game that should be called. Tisdale shuffled his feet on his little hook shot under 2 minutes to make it a one point game. Tonight's game wasn't decided by the refs...it was by whatever team could make a basket and stop down the stretch.

It was lost by Illinois being completely inept on offense, nothing more. The reason the travel calls stick out in my mind so much is because there was at least 3 very obvious ones in a very short stretch by PSU that weren't called and Davis was called for a travel right after that.

Also, I think I've been very clear on here that I think refs do a very poor job across the board in college basketball especially in the Big 10 for whatever reason, not just in Illinois games. As much heat as NBA refs get from people at times, NBA refs>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>college refs.

Don't get me wrong, you're probably the best Illini fan I know. For the most part though, there's no fan base that complains about the refs more than Illinois.

Wow, bad loss for OSU. Turn them over and they can be beat.

Another example of how bad a coach Matta is at times. He has a much more athletic team and needed to go to man to man and eliminate the open looks for 3. He stayed in the zone and they got beat. Turner showed how much development he still needs in college. If he stays another year, he prob avg's almost 20 ppg.

I hate refs, and I do complain about them a lot but it is usually during the game or right after the game when I am emotional about the game. I also complain about officiating in just about every basketball game I watch. The only game I really have ever felt we got screwed by the refs was the Washington game in the tourney but I don't feel like discussing that one again. I have a problem with officiating across the board in college basketball. And then I use message boards to b**** about it so my friends in the real world don't have to hear about it.

I certainly do. 33 points is a f***ing joke. This is the second time they have scored in the 30's in a game and this team is ranked?? Give me a break.

They certainly have had their two pathetic games. Unlike Illinois State though, the Illini have defeated real, actual, legitimate opponents. Teams who will make the NCAA Tournament. They also weren't swept by Indiana State, a team that lost to RPI #329 (as of the end of last week) NIU earlier this year and is well below .500. Nor do they have a loss to a Bradley team that probably won't even make the NIT. And even despite Illinois' relative lack of talent, they still have more talent than Illinois State, who is squarely on the bubble to even make the NCAA Tournament.

So who's your All American team so far? Mine would be:

pg- Ty Lawson

sg- Stephen Curry

c- Dejuan Blair

sf- Jodie Meeks

pf- Blake Griffin

Harden, Thabeet, Hansbrough, McNeal, Harangody, and Calathes just miss

Sadly, I root Georgia Tech. I hate Bruce Weber with a passion. It's amazing how Weber has such a pristine image among Illini fans when he's as guilty of the same crap that he complains about other coaches doing. I actually like a few of their players, in Chester Frazier and Mike Davis. I disliked the Dee Brown group due to Dee being just a piece of s*** on campus.

Fair enough. I never have been a big Bruce fan, and even now I'm really not. He's a very good in game coach (usually), but I still think he's a bit too whiny and that Jerrance Howard is the actual reason for the recruiting revival. I can see why somebody would hate him, as well as the Dee Brown group. Actually, between Dee and Luther and McBride and so on, the Illini have had a lot of hateable players.

Illinois is extremely subpar, a good small conference team could easily beat them in the first round.

This is true about almost every team in college basketball this year outside of the top 8 or so. There just aren't very many good basketball teams in college basketball teams this year. It wouldn't surprise me if every SEC and Pac 10 teams lost early. Every Big 10 team could lose early. Every Big 12 team except for Oklahoma could lose early, etc. Even some of the top teams like Clemson, Wake, Louisville, and Duke have looked awful at times.

I've said it many times, we don't get a chance to play anyone. In conference is always much tougher than it should be. That goes for both teams. However, I still think we are every bit as talented as Illinois and I see no reason that Illinois should be ranked. ISU should not be either. I'm just saying that a game between the teams could go either way. I'm biased so I give ISU the slight edge. By the way, with UNI losing to Drake tonight, ISU now controls its own destiny for the MVC regular season title. If they win that and lose in the MVC final(by preferably under 30) and get snubbed again, it will be a disgrace. Regular season champ from a conference as good as the MVC is should get in the tournament even in a down year.

I didn't hear much bad about McBride. Luther Head was just a piece of s*** while on campus. Deron was actually a very nice person..but not really a scholar.

You lost to f'ing Indiana State twice. They are one of the worst teams in the country. The MVC sucks this yeary and is a one big league. Just accept it.

Who is a scholar when they know they are going to the league?

If Deron Williams would have been on any other UIUC team besides that one, I'd probably really like him. There is no player I hate in any sport perhaps as much as I hate Dee Brown. Only because when he was in college I had to hear how supposedly great he was. I told everyone he would never be a legit NBA player. He rode Williams and Augustines coattails if you ask me. Sorry for the mini rant. Just reading the name Dee Brown riles me up. ha.

Yeah, but a team that barely finishes .500 in a conference surely deserves to go. The big school collusion is getting really bad. Your team is a part of that so I don't expect you to have a problem with it. I wouldn't either if the MVC was the BCS conference.

Don't get me wrong, Illinois deserved to lose 100 times over tonight, but I think tonight's game may have been the single worst officiated game I've ever seen.

here we go again, blame the refs

I'm pretty much in agreement with your list. Curry, Meeks and Griffin are obviously locks. Lawson has been just ridiculous lately. Blair is a good choice but obviously Hansbrough and Thabeet have good cases. Harangody is a really good player but he is still awful defensively and he has been scoring his points by basically being a volume shooter at times this year.

KU handles Iowa State with a 17 point victory. Hey Alex, what happened to Marcus Morris, kid looks good now.

KU now 10-1 in the conference, wow.

Kentucky lost to Gardner Webb and San Diego last year and they got in. It's all about the cash.

Like what?

Recruiting players that have already declared for a particular school (see Justin Dentmon), dealing with AAU and recruits handlers (see Worldwide Wes and Reggie Rose), doing everything in his power to keep criminals in school (Jamar Smith, Luther Head, and R. Roberts at SIU).

Weber treated the David Palmer situation very unprofessionally, and there's rumors he's doing the same with Joseph Bertrand now. Of course, Weber has his buddies like Brad Sturdy and Kedric Price stating that he's the cleanest coach in the history of sports, so you'll probably say none of this is true.

Haha, my brother uses the term "volume shooter" about Harangody every game. He also should lose votes for being the biggest crybaby in basketball.

Not that I really post much anymore, ridiculously embarrassing loss tonight also...but really, the ISU fan is talking s***? Yikes.

You may not like the team but to argue they shouldn't be ranked is so ignorant.
