Hampton is quite worthless, totally agreed. even when it comes to football, he is just choppy with his thoughts and expressing them

Do any of you guys like Boers and Bernstein? They've always seemed like idiots to me and pretty much just laugh at their own inside jokes most of the air time.

Love them!!!

Anyone listen to the show so far today? Stuck at work and can't listen yet until the commute home, but have the fellas touched on anything?

I konw Bruce Levine and Carmen gave out their collective thank you's and respect during the opening segment of Baseball Weekly.

They are pompous jerks that no one should call or listen to-unless you like being told they are smarter than you

They did a nice bit on Mac to start the 5:00 hour-it was a money thing by ESPN-did Danny Mac's top 5 happiest moments, one of which was being on the field at Fenway Park after the El Duque game.

Already- too much Bulls today in the brief time I listened-

I like bernsy, cant stand Boers.

Well, Bernstein is smarter than almost every single meatball caller that gets on the show.

If fans weren't such idiots he wouldn't have to go off like he does. How many 'orton is god' and 'why doesn't lovie talk into the headset' calls does he have to take?

Yep, B&B are way too smart for most of sports radio listeners.

LOL, the repeater calls drive Bernstein up the wall. Especially during the football season

There are two sides to that story.

There is no doubt there are a ton of idiots that call in. I deal with it every day. However, without them, B&B would have a totally different show. They welcome it, because it makes for good radio(or at least in their opinion it does).

Goff and Abbatacolla welcome those "Orton is God" calls. They are the ones letting them pass though the screen, getting them on air.

For every smart call they let on the air, they let 5 meatball calls on. The problem is there aren't as many meatball calls as you are lead to believe, but most make the air so they can do their shtick.

I have assumed this for years. I think it's pretty lame actually.

That's my opinion as well, and it doesn't make for entertaining radio.

I think they want the idiot callers phoning in to make them look like they know what they are talking about.

After Dahl was cancelled, I was looking for something to fill the void in my podcasts that I listen to a work. I listened to a month or so of B&B, and I couldn't take it anymore. I understand that they don't like "dumb" calls, but like you said, it's their screeners who let them through. McNeil (who I like as a host, but suspect I'd dislike greatly in person) is pompous. Bernstein is pompous squared.

When B&B get on a topic, they really beat it to death, and nobody can change their opinions. They were talking about "half time adjustments" a while back, and Terry said he saw Phil Simms interviewed and Simms said that coaches don't make "half time adjustments." With that as the basis of his argument, B&B proceeded to browbeat anyone who said anything about Lovie Smith not making adjustments. If you listen to many ex-athletes, they use the term making adjustments quite often. It doesn't mean that the teams make huge changes in scheme or philosophy mid-game, it means making minor tweaks to the gameplan based on what has happened in the game.

To me, that's B&B in a nutshell. If a caller makes a point and misspeaks or overstates something, they pounce and proceed to make the caller look stupid. I don't find that kind of radio entertaining.

Yesterday they had a guy call in and say if Tom Brady had been drafted by the Bears or Kurt Warner, they might not be HOFers. (I agree) He was quickly shut up, told if you are good you are good and coaching means nothing. I would think a QB with better receivers and more time to throw generally will be better than one with bad receivers who have to unload the ball quickly. I think he would have been better off saying Rex Grossman might have played in a Pro Bowl or 2 if he was drafted by NE. While they are better spoken than most of their callers, B&B's pompous attitude is curious. I really don't think they know much more than them. I remember Hawk telling Boers he knew nothing about baseball. It was gold.

They know what calls they are taking, it's kind of their gimmick. They could do a differnt type of show if they wanted. Bernstein decided this is what he wanted to do. Feder reported he had similar offers from the Score and WLS to be with Roe Cann (sp?). He gets to be the smartest kid in the room on the Score and he wouldn't of been at WLS. I'm not criticizing him at all, I listen to them a lot and when they become too much I shut them off. I think he's entertaining, IMO he's playing a character, probably exaggerated from his own personality.

Honestly I don't like any show that invovles too many callers. When Dan Patrick was on ESPN radio he was great because he took very few calls, i thought he was entertaining on his own and when he conversed with guests and his staff. He's still good now, but not as good because he takes too many calls.

My vote is for Mac N Holmes to take over the airwaves from 10 til 2. Murph goes to hell where his lame sound effects belong.

Well to me, the bolded makes perfect sense. It implies that 5 out of every 6 sports fans or so are dumb meatballs, and that sounds about right. I would say 95 percent of the people that post on this board are a member of the smart 1 of 6, so keep that in mind as I say this, but I think to say 83 percent of sports fans are meatballs is probably close to accurate.

McNeil's article is in the Sun Times today.

No surprises except he wasn't as kind to Harry as he was to Jurko.

That wasn't a surprise either.

He likes Jurko and he doesn't like Harry.

McNeil kind of rubs me the wrong way. I don't necessarily think he's a bad guy or anything, but he's too Coppocky for my liking.

He was a Coppock "understudy" so it's probably natural that it would rub off on him.

No, I knew they didn't really care for each other, but I didn't expect the things he said about Jurko vs Harry to be so "one sided".

I'd guess he at least partially blames Harry (or at least his conflicts with Harry) for his "dismissal", so those were a few parting shots.

That's the way I took it, anyway. The overt gushing about Jurko (who I personally find to be the worst non-Santo personality on any Chicago radio station) just put a finer point on it by contrast.

Harry gave a quick shot back at Mac on the show, by saying that he would "take the high road unlike the guy who writes for the Sun Times and no longer is on radio."

That quote isn't really taking the high road.

They are a bunch of fat idiots who get paid way more than they should and should stop bickering like women.

Harry is a younger Murph with the jewish Shtick...both must work for close to nothing as neither is anything more than a cheerleader.
