i'm with you there. i don't know about anyone else, but i wasn't expecting a win today and wasn't surprised they lost.

For me personally, it makes matters worse that it seems just as we're going into the tank, the Cubs are going on a huge run. At least the Blackhawks are still going to keep the focus off of baseball in the city.

Yeah, I have no problem with Podsednik's effort today. Great job in the first inning, and then a good throw to get the runner.

Forget Lillibridge and Pods and anyone else who is getting guff on this team. I am getting sick of the guys who actually should be good not doing anything. That is the part of this team that has been really bothering me. Guys like John Danks, Gavin Floyd, Alexei Ramirez, Josh Fields, and Carlos Quentin aren't doing their jobs, and that renders the production of guys like Broadway and Lillibridge as pointless.

You're right, we should focus more not on the guys who are supposed to do poorly doing just that, but rather on the guys who are supposed to be productive not getting the job done. I pick on Lillibridge and probably shouldn't, but I think my frustration with him is more frustration with management having him on the roster.

 

Danks looked like a Cy Young favorite for 3 starts and now doesn't look like he can get anyone out. Quentin started slow, got real hot,and is injured and mediocre again. At least we know they are capable of being excellent players this year as they have been excellent players this year for a short while. Ramirez, Fields and Floyd have mostly just been bad. Its still early, but how long do you go before its not just a slump but what you can expect from these players? I don't think we are there yet, but it is getting close.

Yup. If Bartolo gives up 6 ER or something like that is one thing. But he pitched a hell of a game and it goes for nothing. I still don't expect Bartolo to make it to the all-star break without hitting the DL or worse. So it's critical we take advantage of the fact he's throwing the ball fairly well right now.

No. Dude won the division last year, out-performs the "Computer expectations" every year, has a world series and 2 division titles to his credit in 5 years.

I do know that it made me happy to hear Hawk essentially b****ing about the fact that we let another young, no name starter look like Cy Young out there. At least someone directly involved with the team is pissed about what all of us have been mad about for years. We always suck against young guys like Ray.

I can't wait until this happens. At least if a team is young and doing poorly, it's a bit more fun to watch. You can have hope for the future, for development. But, we have veterans galore and we suck. That makes this s***ty start to the season all that more painful.

Depends on who the younger players are.

If their names are Lillibridge, Nix, Fields, maybe not.

I live in Kansas City. The young players here the last 10 years have not been so fun to watch.
