There's a big difference between trading a future HOFer to a contender and kicking somebody off of the team out of anger.

one is funnier than the other

Anyone who advocates releasing either one has zero clue about baseball or how business is done, or about showing any damn class/respect as an organization.

you ought to ask Carlton Fisk about that

20+ LOSSES. Tigers, Jays, RedSox have all done it. They have no place on the team. Bad contract for bad aged talent. They can't keep DLing these guys to get them in the minors. Add Colon to that list to.

Even if Sox won half those games, they would be over .500 now and in a pennant chase.

so do we know where he is going yet?

Remember Carlton Fisk's last days with the Sox?

I don't think it could get much worse than that.

Not saying KW would do something like that... but our beloved Sox do have a history.

So what do you actually gain by releasing either? Other than, you know, showing you have no class as an organization.

you realize we still have to pay the contracts right? They don't just vanish.

wait i thought you were using hyperbole... the count and liney are not responsible for 20+ losses. that's just laughably ignorant.

You get to placate a bunch of angry and immature posters at Soxtalk.

Thome to Dodgers and Jose to Rockies? Huh.

Where's Thome playing in the NL?

I heard Boston, but that really makes no sense. I would think it would have to be Texas or TB.

Wow, get used to pinch hitting big man.

Damn. I'll miss Thome. Hopefully Kenny laid the groundwork for him to go to a contender, and maybe to come back next year.

ummm no thanks

There's one month left with Jose! f***, pitch him out of the pen, but you don't cut the ace of your 05 WS team and a guy who went balls out just to be back this season.

As far as Linebrink, why would you simply declare him as a sunk cost? He's not been good, but he hasn't been horrible?

Thome will pinch hit.

Thats why he had to think about it...

Yeah, I hate it when an organization keeps a player around who can't hit or catch just so he can break a meaningless record which turns out only lasted a few years.
