August 2, 201015 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 02:07 PM) Pretty good deal for Milwaukee. Even if Hart isn't this good over the next three years, having him at around $9 million per is pretty damn good. These deals seem to work well for everyone involved. Sure, Hart will probably lose a few million $ by not going to FA, but it does give him security for the rest of his life. And were he to get injured, this protects him. He can always go for the big bucks in 3 years when he hits FA and try to make the huge money. I think if I was a pro baseball player, I would choose that route.
August 2, 201015 yr Rays purchased the contract of RHP Jeremy Hellickson from Triple-A Durham. They have some nice pitching depth.
August 2, 201015 yr QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) Rays purchased the contract of RHP Jeremy Hellickson from Triple-A Durham. They have some nice pitching depth. He's making it look easy after 2 innings of work.
August 3, 201015 yr Does anyone else find Matt Garza to have some of the most disgusting mannerisms a person can possibly have?
August 3, 201015 yr Hellickson looks pretty good so far. Has gotten a bit unlucky this inning with a blooper and a seeing-eye single. And he just made Thome look pretty bad. This guy's got great control of all his pitches. Edited August 3, 201015 yr by chw42
August 3, 201015 yr Great start by Hellickson. 7 IP 2 ER 6 K 2 BB Edited August 3, 201015 yr by chw42
August 3, 201015 yr QUOTE (That funky motion @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 08:01 PM) I wonder if Tampa will send him down after this start. I don't see how they can. This guy is easily as good as Wade Davis or Jeff Niemann. His control is so good.
August 3, 201015 yr QUOTE (beautox @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 08:27 PM) Carlos Santana nailed at the plate; it doesn't look good. collision?

August 3, 201015 yr QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 08:30 PM) Qualls in to blow the game. Gives up a leadoff single to get things started in the 8th. He didn't blow it. I'm telling you, Qualls is going to be very grateful that he's no longer in Arizona. Joe Maddon's leaving Randy freakin' Choate out there to dry. Edited August 3, 201015 yr by chw42
August 3, 201015 yr Not sure if this has been posted anywhere. Good, quick article from Time Magazine about the shift in power from hitters to pitchers: http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,...07984-2,00.html

August 3, 201015 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 04:35 PM) Howard and Youk to the DL. I almost feel sorry for Red Sox fans. They have seen 2 World Series titles in the last 6 years. I have no sympathy for them whatsoever. Edited August 3, 201015 yr by J.Reedfan8
August 3, 201015 yr QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) They have seen 2 World Series titles in the last 6 years. I have no sympathy for them whatsoever. True. But man. Ellsbury, Cameron, Pedroia, Martinez, Beckett, Buchholz and now Youk are either currently on or spent a considerable amount of time on the DL. I actually think they might be the best team in baseball with a healthy roster.
