December 8, 200916 yr Per Heyman, deal is pending physicals. yanks to get granderson, e. jackson, i. kennedy to dbacks, scherzer, schlereth, a. jax, coke to tigers
December 8, 200916 yr Wow... Yanks get Granderson, huh? I guess they'll be even better next year. Great.
December 8, 200916 yr Scherzer for Jackson is a terrific swap for the Tigers, dealing Granderson is going to be a bit more difficult to sell to your fan base.
December 8, 200916 yr Author QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 10:55 AM) Scherzer for Jackson is a terrific swap for the Tigers, dealing Granderson is going to be a bit more difficult to sell to your fan base. Unless Max elbow explodes. He puts a s***load of stress on that arm.
December 8, 200916 yr Author QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 11:08 AM) I wonder if this means that Damon isn't gonna be brought back. Heyman said the Yanks will still consider Damon. It does mean Hideki Matsui should be available for sure.
December 8, 200916 yr QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 01:10 PM) Heyman said the Yanks will still consider Damon. It does mean Hideki Matsui should be available for sure. Can Matsui still play the field or is he a DH now?
December 8, 200916 yr The Tigers get Schlereth as well? God damn. That's a mighty impressive haul. Verlander/Scherzer/Porcello is a mighty impressive trio heading their rotation.
December 8, 200916 yr QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 01:13 PM) The Tigers made out like bandits on this one. And i hate this for the Yankees. Yeah, the Tigers did great. I'm a big fan Granderson fan, so i think the Yankees did well, didn't give up too much for a great player. I think the D-Backs get hosed, gave up a lot of young talent.

What the hell happened to Josh Byrnes? I thought he was a very promising up and coming GM a few years ago.

December 8, 200916 yr QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 02:13 PM) The Tigers made out like bandits on this one. And i hate this for the Yankees. Why? Kennedy probably has little to no value right now because even when he is healthy he doesn't have great stuff and he has had a ton of arm trouble. Coke is a solid reliever but nothing special. Jackson is a good prospect but probably overrated considering his OBP is only about .350 in the minors and he hasn't shown any power. Even in a bad down year Granderson posted a higher OPS in the majors than Jackson posted in a good year in AAA.

Even if Jackson turns into a star, so what? LOL. The Yankees are the one team that doesn't ever have to worry about traded prospects coming back to haunt them. December 8, 200916 yr What the hell? The D-Backs got screwed in this. Ian Kennedy? You serious? I understand that they got Jackson, but Ian Kennedy...? Edited December 8, 200916 yr by chw42
December 8, 200916 yr I can only think that Arizona is foreseeing a long string of injuries for Scherzer and to take advantage of his trade value now. Plus, Jackson could do very well in the NL. Still, quite a haul for the Tigers even though they lose two of their most promising young players. They still have a strong core to build around though.

Diamondbacks fans can not be pleased right now, on paper they just got taken.
December 8, 200916 yr Only thing I could think is that Arizona is trying to win now. Haren, Webb, Jackson gives them a dominant 1-2-3. With that said, good luck. Schlereth and Scherzer were too much to give up for Jackson and Ian Kennedy. I would've traded them straight up for Granderson and Jackson.
December 8, 200916 yr Wow, well at least this means the Central will come down to the Sox and Twins next year.
December 8, 200916 yr This is quite interesting... I really like this deal for the Tigers and Yankees, while the D'backs I'm not too sure what's going on over there.
December 8, 200916 yr The Yankees got a steal here. Austin Jackson wasn't in their plans, Coke can be easily replaced, and Kennedy is crap. This sucks. At least the Tiggers got worse in 2010 though.
