So, this afternoon I learned I have a second cousin (related threw my dad's dad) who is a Disney Imagineer. Not only that, but apparently he's extremely high up the food chain. I dont have the job title just yet, but it sounds like he might be one of the heads of Imagineering in Florida.

Those meds probably don't have antihistamines, right? So you are probably allergic to something. Late August is a common time for allergies, one of the weeds gets bad this time of year. Try Claritin or the like.

I should've mentioned, I took a Zyrtec yesterday (much earlier in the day). I'll try a Claritin now, though.

Zyrtec is a live saver for my allergies and I have them horribly bad right now. To the point that I have sneeze streaks at least 20 times straight and my eyes and toungue itches. But if I remember to take the Zrytec I am all good.

There is also a Claritin-D version, that includes a decongestant.

My usual scheme (mainly full-year indoor dust mite allergy problem):

 

1. Claritin on days when allergies bug me lightly for a few hours

2. Claritin-D on days when I know in advance it's going to get to me (i.e. staying in a hotel).

3. Benadryl for intense, "I can't breathe so I can't sleep" flareups.

 

 

None of you guys should ever move down here, you'd suffocate from your allergies. I'm allergic to everything, but I don't take anything regularly and have built up a tolerance.

I just napped, and the headache and stuffiness are much more bearable. But I sneezed so hard earlier that my whole back and arms felt like I got hit by a truck. I mean, I've never felt a pain from sneezing, but this crippled me for a few seconds.

So my dad called to ask me something and I don't really know. He said that at his job they are getting a raise, but at the same time they're increasing the percentage that the employee contributes for their healthcare premium so that in effect they are actually getting nothing, and he's wondering if it's even legal or above-board to do that. I guess supposedly the union compromised on their last negotiations and took less salary because it was going to go into employee benefits and somehow the president manipulated a way out of having to pay out any more money behind closed doors (he wasn't on the phone long enough to explain this all the way). I'm guessing it's probably not the most ethical way of doing things but it's probably all legal unless the president blatantly breached the contract somehow...?

I assume that the changes won't occur until 2011...

 

They have the right to find their own healthcare through other means.

This is all a part to move everyone over to the gov't pool... unions shield some of it (sunset provisions in the law) but in general, private insurance is going to be gone in 5 years because no one will be able to afford it and they'll just say "f*** it" and opt for the government pool.

Exactly, he just rambles on the whole time. He says we cover alot, but really he just talked alot. His whole class can be condensed into about 15 minutes.

1. I see nothing illegal about it, though its s***ty.

 

2. It may actually still result in a raise. Let's say they added $100 to each of his paychecks, but also took $100 more out each month for healthcare. You see, the salary is taxed as income, but the health care costs are taken out pre-tax (usually). So effectively, he'd end up with maybe $20 more in his pocket.

Even still, they're covering that amount with more salary (my job's not doing anything like this but they are rolling in cash with no debt except to the equity company that bought them out, so it's a moot point)
