I guess that's probably the best way I can imagine to replace Rich Harden.

Hendry: Your arm falls off after 5 too!? I'm in love.

But wait they got Carlos Silva. LOL

Greg Maddux has been hired to be an assistant to GM Jim Hendry.

What that entails, I have no idea. Show up and talk pitching once in a while, I suppose.

He was on Chicago Tribune Live and mentioned that the job was going to be "far from a full-time gig". So yeah, you'd have to assume it'd be more of an emeritus position.

He was asked by Dave Caplin on WGN last night as to what he will do at his new job and it took him about 10 seconds of ummms and uhhhhhs to come up with his job description. If you cant tell someone what you job is within 3 seconds, it's not a real job.

Maddux loves golf, he spent a ton of time playing even on his off days during the season. This has to be 99% PR move, because I don't see him putting the clubs away long enough to take this seriously.

Soto lost 37 in the pounds in the offseason, and the Cubs are supposedly "ecstatic."

I mean, why wouldn't they be? When a guy whose minor league power numbers suddenly spike and then dramatically plummet loses tons of weight, it can only be a good thing, right?

Well if you quit smoking pot then you dont retain 40 extra pounds.....I guess

Do the Cubs have even one good young major league level player?

Randy Wells and Soto and maybe that's it? Soto only depending on a bounceback year

And Wells avoiding a sophomore slump...

Sounds like Soto went to the Ivan Rodriguez school of weight loss (ie. off of the PEDs)

Just like he did before his ROY season. He's a joke.

I guess getting off the roids is something to be happy about?
