No kidding, guys like Baker and Blackburn aren't much different than Randy Wells, etc. Our current lineup is too weak to just destroy crappy pitching, like we used to do in 2006.

We're not relying on the lineup to destroy crappy pitching, we're relying on the pitchers to make their hitters look crappy. You know this.

You realize in the same breath you wrote about how the pitching in the NL Central isn't that different from what we see in the AL and then talked about how good Gorzelanny and Silva looked in their last outings.

About 10 posts ago we were talking about how for having a supposed good lineup, the good lineup for the Brewers seems to consist of about 3 really good guys surrounded by meh.

Silva I agree with you on (but watch the awful NL make him into a serviceable starter), but Gorzelanny is healthy again and throwing significantly harder than he was when hurt with the Pirates. Gorzelanny should make a pretty decent 5th starter when Lilly returns.

I agree. I've always liked Gorzelanny. He'll be a decent 5th starter. I would assume Silva becomes the long man when they get Lilly back.

If the Cards stay relatively healthy, they run away with this division, the other teams aren't even close IMO. I know that's stating the obvious, but the Brewers and Cubs BPs are horrible (I would give the edge to the Cubs simply because of Marmol), but if the Cubs starters aren't going to go 7-8 consistently, they will struggle to win this year

im certain the catcher called for the fastball, but im also certain he didnt call it right down the middle of the plate...and when you are jeff suppan and cant top 90, you can't afford to miss spots that badly

I do like them, but if St. Louis stays healthy, even with a good pen in Cincy, the Cards are the dominant team in that division, not if Carpenter gets ouchy or Holliday or Albert, then it's a free for all

that would be awesome, but I agree, I am expecting a MAJOR meltdown from him this year, like on the level of they may be forced to trade him and eat a ton of that salary level meltdown

If they were smart they would use Marshall for the remainder of this game to get to Marmol. He is their best shot of shutting the Brewers down and there is no way the Brewer pen which could be worse than the cubs is going to keep the ball in the aprk. The cub will end up with at least 9 runs today.
