RD 18: Randall Thorpe, OF, San Jacinto JUCO, a redraft.

The Sox took Thorpe in the 29th round in 2008. He had great speed and defensive ability then, not sure about now

Jacoby Jones to the Astros. Another guy looking college-bound.

Douglas Murray another RHP.

This kid has an unhealthy obsession with Chocolate Milk. From his bio: PERSONAL: Born in September of 1988... son of Roger and Debbie Murray... brother Greg played baseball at Pacific (2007-08)... goal for the season is to help the team as much as possible... thinks the best thing about being a student-athlete is priority registration and the free showers and soap... chose USF because of the coaches, it is close to home and has great weather... would like to be the Nesquick Bunny for a day so he could drink chocolate milk all day... lists Kobe Bryant as the most impressive person he has ever met... would like to backpack around the West Coast after graduation... favorite sports hero is Greg Maddux... favorite movie is Big Daddy... favorite book is Mental ABC's of Pitching... favorite musical artist is Bob Marley... favorite food is chocolate milk... hobbies include ping pong and drinking chocolate milk... majoring in Environmental Studies.

oh, just another catcher...Jose Ramos

I'm hoping that the purge nets us some left-handed arms.

If we're looking for another nice 1b bat, Mike Nemeth from Uconn wouldn't be the worst direction to look in...

Drafting only 1 LHP and OF amazes me.

If you haven't seen we've been updating the FutureSox draft tracker with tidbits on every draft pick so far. Link

Just noticed that the average height of the first 5 players we took is 6'5".

Nats with a nice late pick in Texas OF Connor Rowe.

Are you serious? Another RHP? What the f***, guys? I know it's late, but grab a freaking LHP!

Who cares, why just draft a LHP because they throw lefty? At this point in the draft, it's all luck anyways.

Randy Williams says hi!

Do people really think it matters that much whether or not our 15th round pick is a RHP or a LHP?

Seriously, if any of the guys after the first couple rounds go on to make the big leagues, I'm happy with the pick.

This is a concern about the draft at large. We filled a middle infield need, a pitching need, but not the left-handed pitching need which is a pretty dramatic problem in our organization. When Randy Williams and Wes Whistler are literally our best options, something's gotta give.

We just took Ozney in the 22nd round.

It is almost worse to take him here than to not take him at all.

Heresssss Ozney!
