That's actually my biggest problem with Alex Rios: he attempts to steal a lot of bases but always slides feet first into the center of the bag rather than head first to the back of the bag. Feet first you allow yourself no wiggle room, no adjustments can be made if the throw beats you you're out. With the head first slide you can do just as Pierre just did.
