Man, what a disparity.

Also, it's a .585 winning clip against the NL since 2000.

Hmm, so people weren't lying when they said a .500 AL team could be a .570 team in the NL...

What troubles me about this year's campaign is that it resembles 2001 so much. Start off terrible, climb all the way seemingly back in it against the NL to around .500, get handcuffed into making no moves, go 5-10 under in August and September, end up with 79-83 wins.

So how do we keep Detroit and Minny from playing the NL teams? It's pretty silly that this run is changing KW's strategy, as they haven't made up significant ground.

We've made up 1 game in the standings since June 1st. We were a game and a half closer to first on May 26th than we are today.

That's alright...part of this is just getting the mojo working and improving our mental state and team chemistry.

I know you don't particularly believe in momentum, but I think that when these guys start winning, the pressure starts coming off a bit, the rumors cease a little, they can start relaxing and playing more as they are capable of.

Then they'll start eating into the deficit.

It's just nice to not try and avoid BBTN or ESPNEWS because I don't want to see another Sox loss. Heck, I'm excited to watch the game tonight.

Agreed, I'm excited to watch as well!

The pitching is starting to resemble what it is supposed to.

God forbid Gordon and Q actually stop sucking, the lineup could be fun.

I'll maintain that this is not a bad team. They are not as good as the Twins andthey've obviously played like dogs***, but i really feel with a couple breaks they could have competed this year.

It's a team that has talent that is better than it has displayed. The pitching has underachieved, and quite a few of our guys have hit below their norms.

Just imagine how bad we'd be if Alex Rios hadn't become The Awesome, as well as PK finding the fountain of youth, though...

Last 9 starts from the rotation.....

Total: 62 2/3 IP, 49 H, 15 ER, 17 BB, 50 K, 2.15 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 2.94 K/BB

Sox are one of three AL teams at 7-2 in interleague. Tigers and Red Sox are the others.

Half way through, AL leads 66-60.

eek.. so three teams are 21-6 and the AL is only +6?

Good. Keep it going.

I'm not saying they will compete as I have a hard time believing, but anytime it's less than a 7-game deficit like now, I won't call anybody crazy for thinking the Sox still have a chance.

That's not that good was my point..

The AL is 45-54 not counting the three 7-2 teams

After the all-star break we play 4 against the twins.

If we can get to above .500 and stay there...

Get to 5 games out....

We're looking great to be back in contention then.

Huummmmmmm.....

It ain't over fellaz.

We're not at all a bad team. We're just in the wrong league. ;)

Sox were 6 back on May 4 - now we're 6.5 back. In other words, we've played basically even with the Twins over the past 6 weeks, but are still in a hole due to the poor start in April. There is still plenty of time to overtake the Twins, especially with the number of games we have left versus them and the Tigers. The Twins have their issues too: injuries to their middle infield, Mauer not having an MVP season (only .310 with 2 HRs), and Rauch is starting to blow some saves...
