It's pretty clear at this point...

We need a RF. Quentin looks like he hurts himself running now. He is just too injury prone, and not that good defensively in the first place to be out there everyday, and he would greatly benefit from being a full time DH.

Now, the question is, who do we bring in to play RF?

Jayson Werth and Corey Hart are the two biggest names out there, but both would cost A LOT to get and each have their own concerns. What about any other names that could be intriguing?

Naw, Kalapse won't be convinced until "Quentin tears an ACL or something" to be declared injury prone.

While it would be preferred to add a Left handed bat, that idea is overrated. We need a bat than actually has extra base ability and can be a threat, regardless of which side of the plate they hit on.

Only one Man. David DeJesus.

I'd like to have more power from the left side, but I'd take DeJesus right now in a heartbeat. I wonder how Quentin would react to being made a full time DH. Something tells me that he wouldn't be too happy.

Good.

I like angry Carlos.

On a side note....I dont like when people end their posts with "Discuss". Like they just had some ground breaking post and that they are now allowing the masses to have long discussions about what they just said because it is just that good. LOL

Not picking on you Bearsox, it was just something a lot of posters do and I have to laugh at it everytime.

It's sad it took people this long to realize that Carlos Quentin can't play the OF.

RF DeJesus

2B Beckham

CF Rios

1B Konerko

DH Quentin

C Pierzynski

SS Ramirez

3B Vizquel/Viciedo/Teahen

LF Pierre

That's a pretty good lineup from 1-5. Pierre would make a hell of a #9 hitter.

The Royals are reportedly listening to offers for OF David DeJesus. It's a weak trade deadline to some degree so a player like DeJesus, who does a lot of things well and nothing outstanding, is drawing some attention.

The Royals recognize this and that's why their asking price for DeJesus is "silly", one front office exec told Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports.

Kansas City knows that, and its asking price, one interested front-office type said, is “silly.” The Royals want a major league-ready prospect, along with at least one midlevel prospect or a pair of lower-level players. Perhaps it’s not so silly when considering the options Kansas City holds on DeJesus.

The Royals can pick up an affordable $6 million option and dangle him again in the offseason or next trade deadline. They can decline the option, offer him arbitration and take a couple draft picks. They can pick up the option, hold on to DeJesus and hope their farm system – quickly becoming the best in all of baseball – starts spitting out enough next year to patch together a contender.

As I've said before, the Royals are willing to wait until they get an offer that pleases them. If they don't trade him, then they get a solid player relatively cheap through 2011. Or, as Passan suggests, they can dangle him again. It's a win-win situation.

J.Soria News:

The Royals haven't given any indication they wouldn't part with him if the right deal came along. According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Yankees "would love" to have Soria.

Two players Yankees would love to have: Dunn, Soria. Nationals' price on Dunn exorbitant. Royals would need to be overwhelmed.

Just because they apparently covet him doesn't mean they'll get him, as MLB Trade Rumors explains.

The Royals would need to be "overwhelmed" to part with Soria, who makes $3MM this season and is under team control through 2014. He has 25 saves already and has posted 11.1 K/9 this season, which makes him one of the more appealing relievers available. The Yankees have had inconsistent performances from righties Joba Chamberlain, Chan Ho Park and David Robertson, which no doubt contributes to their interest in Soria.

Was discussed on the White Sox post game show. Have you ever heard the callers on the post game show?

The thought of getting Soria is super unrealistic for this team. DeJesus makes sense though.

Greg said it was discussed on the Royals post game show, now does it add any credibility? I dont know.

Its pretty funny how the Royals are so willing it seems to deal with an inner division rival such as the Sox. KW must have built such a good rapport behind the scenes even more than we know as fans.

Moderators towering down and cynically dysecting a post in judgement = good

Posters ending a post with the word discuss = bad

get off your high horse :P

The problem here is that the Royals are going to ask for Beckham for DeJesus.

And that will be the end of the conversation.

And there's no way we have the pieces for both of those guys, let alone one.

Don't you think everyone in the league knows that Beckham isn't going anywhere, especially after it came out that Kenny wouldnt even move him for Cliff Lee?

Sometimes, setting your asking price so high that the other side flat out walks away isn't a good negotiating tactic.

That'd be fine by the Royals. They're not in a hurry to trade DeJesus and Soria within the division, and there will be plenty of other teams that will lineup for those two, especially considering their contract situations ($4.7 mill in '10, $6 mill team option next year for DeJesus; $3 mill in '10, $4 mill in '11, $6 mill team option in '12, $8 mill team option in '13, $8.75 mill team option in '14 for Soria).

If only Ruth had been crazy and addicted to internet porn instead of hot dogs and beer, this might hold true.
