The mistake the Sox made was in thinking Thome's skills might be diminishing more/faster than they have. So then why did Jim take a next to nothing deal to play in a DH platoon for the Twins? The mistake Ozzie Guillen made was in thinking Thome was a poor fit for this team compared to Mark Kotsay because on-base percentage is nothing compared to flexibility. Fixed.
