He should still know better than that. You learn how to play baseball the right way when you start playing highly competitive baseball, which he has since 10 years old probably.

Obviously he still needs work in that area.

Trevor Bauer throws 9 different pitches.

Harper is a guy who said he wants to be known as a better person more than as a good baseball player.

Walk the walk, kid.

Hope he doesn't mind playing with bruised ribs

Obviously he still needs work in that area.

They should immediately move that kid up. He's bored and just messing with this league. He's ready. Move him up. The kid is gonna be awesome.

He is still only 18.

And? He's a whopping 3 days older than me, I wouldn't do that s***.

Bryce Harper still thinks he's in high school or college. where retaliation will never fall on his head.

The difference is he's a superstar and has always been a superstar. He's never faced anyone as good as him at baseball. That changes how you act.

Hence why he believes there will never be consequences or retaliation.

My second all-time favorite player is Barry Bonds. So I obviously don't have a problem with doucheiness (I know that's not a word) as long as you can play. This is overblown. It just goes to show you how much s*** has changed. This was an 18-year old in a single A game that was more than likely just messing around. But with MUCH more extensive media coverage and twitter and facebook and everything else we've got out there, the smallest things get overhyped. I've seen Pujols, Ramirez, Griffey and many other great players stand and admire their HRs. Look at f***ing Sammy Sosa. This is no big deal.

3 of the 5 guys you compared him to wound up having to cheat in a way they probably can't any more in order to get to that point.

Sure the game has changed. If he had tried that in the past, someone would have hit him in the head with the very next pitch.

And talents like that usually don't end up doing in the majors what everyone thinks they will, and for that exact reason. This is something often ignored, but its a huge point... if you've never had to work at it, and never had to act like a pro... what happens when you finally reach a level where there is real competition to your talent? A lot of players hit that point and struggle mightily. Harper is not a 100% guarantee to be an all-star, no minor-leaguer or draft pick is, ever.

Ozzie Chavez released

Michael Restonavich activated from DL

Chase Cooney activated from DL

This is a little off topic, since he's in the majors now....

...but going into this year, how highly regarded has Wilson Ramos been?

It's good to see the White Sox made the right call giving Stefan Gartrell away for practically nothing. He's raking for Gwinnett.

KW Jr. now batting 7th, still not low enough in the order.

Was one of the Twins top prospects before he was traded to the Nats. As I recall, there were no questions about his defense, but concerns about his bat.

Those are players I would rather see play in a major league game in the outfield over Stefan Gartrell. The White Sox did him a favor, and if he can make it to the majors with another organization, then good for him.

(I may have honestly missed someone. I don't care. That's how much I miss Stefan Gartrell)

Do you not like Ken Williams Jr?

/obvious?

---

I had a friend who watched him play in Omaha for Wichita State and he said he was by far the fastest player on the field. That team included Andy Dirks, who stole 55 of 68 bases in the minors, as well as a few other players who are in major league organizations.

If you do believe he is really, actually, honestly that slow, I want to see a bit of video proof. KW Sr. had 8 triples with a .218 BA and a .121 Iso at the MLB level to go along with 29 triples and 142 steals in 208 attempts in the minors (I get it, bad percentage - nobody gave a s*** about that back then). Oh, and another son (I think he has 3, though I may be mistaken), Kyle, was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers to be pretty much a kick returner.

Mendel tells us that genes are transferred from parent to child. Unless Williams Jr is hiding something injury wise (which is certainly possible - I don't think he is the most durable player in the world), me thinks either you are lying or the dude can't get out of the box.

He must've been slowed by leg injuries over the past few years. He's slower than the back up catcher. He looks like he's got lead in his legs and feet. It's not a lack of hustle, he's running as hard as he can. He's just not quick at all. But, what do I know? I must be hallucinating when I'm at the Barons games. I was willing to be proven wrong about him, but he's worse than I had imagined.

I wasn't even an alcoholic when this guy was drafted. That's how long it's been. At what point can he be dismissed as AAAA fodder? He's still brought up around these parts fairly regularly.

He is being assigned to AAA.

I've always passed along what I saw, good or bad. It's thoroughly insulting to imply I'm lying about what I see first hand. I see it this year, your friend saw it 3 or 4 years ago. I desperately wanted to see KW Jr. succeed and be productive, so that the playing time was justified. The reality is that he is simply not good, and is either overmatched or out of his element at AA. It's difficult to take video when he's never on base. Duane Shafer's kid got way too much playing time in Birmingham 9 and 10 years ago, he was awful. This is nothing new.

Yeah, I saw that. My question was at what point can he finally be dismissed? Dude was drafted in '04.
