"Both Walker and manager Ozzie Guillen have pointed to the fearsome starting pitching the White Sox have faced over the past week as a reason for the offensive cooling."

NOTHING WE CAN DO! IT WAS JUST "FEARSOME" PITCHING!

Haha, from top to bottom, this team is just a joke.

The entire organization likes to talk a big game but they do nothing but make excuses and back down when they get challenged.

Walk the .195 hitter to get to one of the best in baseball....the 2011 White Sox....as baseball stupid as a team can be.

Fix't.

Because Boston still looks a helluva lot worse.

Ah. So we're 29th. How encouraging.

Anyone else feeling a BOMB right about now?

Edwin doing his best to match Hudson's ERA to benefit J4L's argument. You'd have to think we'll try to trade him at the deadline if we're out of contention. Balta, what type of FA would he be, A or B?

So what you're saying is that we've become the Vancouver Canucks.

Nice.

Fix't.

No argument there.

This game should be about 10 to nothing in about a minute....intentional walk in a 6-0 game when you have one hit. Brilliant..simply brilliant.

The decision making of this team is right there with the worst of Little League mangers that think they know everything.

Guillen talks about how he does not need this job and he and his staff are really showing it.

There is literally nothing about this team that gets me excited.

Guillen, you SUCK for not pulling him for Gray four batters ago. INEXCUSABLE.

Rios, you SUCK once again. Nice throw. NOT.

Cabrera, you're an ass for running through the 3B coach's stop sign when your team's up by 7 runs.

What's Don Cooper's excuse? Fire Coop, he can't fix 'em.

DETROIT -- Greg Walker is mad.

Suffice it to say, the White Sox hitting coach is tired of the negative portrayal and talk around the offense's recent struggles.

"Our scuffles are way overblown," said an angry Walker, departing briefly from his usual affable demeanor. "We're averaging five runs a game. We're fourth in the league in runs scored. We got a couple high-profile guys who haven't got going yet. One of them got operated on a week ago."I'm not worried. We're good. I'm just sort of sick of the negative [talk], I really am. We're not that bad."

When Walker talked to MLB.com about the offense in St. Petersburg on Wednesday, he brought up the tough pitchers lined up against the White Sox over the past week or so, such as Jered Weaver, Dan Haren, David Price, James Shields and, on Friday, Justin Verlander, Walker readily acknowledges the opposition doesn't get any easier in the American League, so "we have to get better."

On Saturday, Walker was a bit more demonstrative in explaining the quality opposing hurlers as one of the causes for the White Sox slump.

"Sit down and figure out who is going to be in the All-Star Game, this year's pitching staff," Walker said. "Have we faced any of them? Or all of them? We're good. We're doing good.

"We've scored more runs off these tough guys than anyone else is doing off any of them. We have a tough stretch against tough pitching. We're battling. We're not giving them away."

A Saturday afternoon home contest against the Angels on April 16, when rookie Tyler Chatwood shut down the White Sox, was the only game listed by Walker as a time when he was disappointed in the offense's focus and effort this season. Yes, the White Sox are hitting .201 with just 32 runs scored in the last 11 games, during which the team has posted a 2-9 record.

But Walker looks more at the team's .307 average and 62 runs scored in the first nine games as a more accurate depiction of how this group should produce.

"Overall, we're scoring runs. We're doing fine. When we do get everyone healthy ..." Walker said. "Very seldom during a season do you have nine guys swing the bat well. We don't have nine guys swinging the bat well.

"Well, in the big picture, we're scoring five runs a game. OK, so we score 15 in one. Guess what? We needed all 15, didn't we? So you just fight the fight. The most important thing for an offensive team is wins. We're not winning games. Hey, we got to get better. But overall, I don't look at this as being a negative situation as it's been portrayed. I don't see it that way."

Who's effin' stat sheet is he looking at?...

Santos and Quentin are the most exciting players on this team.

That WIN a couple days ago was awesome.

The scary thing is that it's possible they'll promote Cooper to manager if Ozzie gets let go.

The 2005 title probably did more harm to this organization than it was worth. OG/KW are now JR's "boys."

OG was given a lifetime pass to be the worst manager in baseball, but hey, he won us a title!

Take the two highest scoring and lowest out of the equation and look at it.

Not a chance. Cora gets the job.

Cooper has never managed at any level.

The bottom line is the Sox needed at least 10 runs to win yesterday and at least 9 runs to win today. There are more Walker vultures are out, but no Cooper. If Walker is solely responsible for the hitter's performances, shouldn't the pitchers' all be on Coop?

It's comical...

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 06:21 PM)
FALSE.

Yeah, I was being a bit extreme, but seriously, no way OG is still here if we didn't win that title.

Can I just blame Edwin Jackson?

Anyway, it'd really help if the team would catch the ball.

According to Oney, Cora wouldn't accept the job.
