May 14, 201114 yr Gac is 2/3, and hit his 11th HR. Wilkins is 0/1 with 2 BB. Santiago has a 1-hitter through 6 IP, with 6 K.
May 14, 201114 yr Charles Leesman has now collectively pitched about a full year of AA ball, being pretty good. 17 games, 8-2 record, 93 IP, 69 hits allowed, 35 walks, 79Ks, roughly a 3.00 ERA in Birmingham. What is preventing him from being promoted to Charlotte? And just how good is he, stuff wise?
May 14, 201114 yr QUOTE (OilCan @ May 13, 2011 -> 08:35 PM) Charles Leesman has now collectively pitched about a full year of AA ball, being pretty good. 17 games, 8-2 record, 93 IP, 69 hits allowed, 35 walks, 79Ks, roughly a 3.00 ERA in Birmingham. What is preventing him from being promoted to Charlotte? And just how good is he, stuff wise? Generally speaking he's a future lefty specialist. The Sox have kept him in spring training somewhat longer for a couple years now. That's a good sign that they like him. I don't think he's much of a starting prospect, but he's got a 3/4 arm angle which could confuse batters with 90s velocity. I like him, but only as a reliever down the road.
May 14, 201114 yr Nice outing for Lucas Harrell against the Twins AAA team. 6 innings; 1 run on 5 hits; 9K's; 1BB
May 14, 201114 yr On the season so far for Steven Upchurch: 24.2 innings... 26 Ks... 2 BBs... 1.82 ERA... .169 BAA... 2.69 GO/AO
May 14, 201114 yr QUOTE (scenario @ May 13, 2011 -> 11:53 PM) On the season so far for Steven Upchurch: 24.2 innings... 26 Ks... 2 BBs... 1.82 ERA... .169 BAA... 2.69 GO/AO Fantastic yes, but I'm finding it hard to get excited when he's going 2-3 innings every outing. Either he's a starter with no stamina or a reliever with less value. I'm taking the wait and see approach because he's right in the middle. Is he a starter or a reliever?

I feel the same way with Reed.

May 16, 201114 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 14, 2011 -> 01:25 PM) I've never seen a system so devoid of starting pitching prospects in my life. It's like Rienzo and Petricka right now. That should be their target early in the draft.
May 16, 201114 yr QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 15, 2011 -> 11:46 PM) It's like Rienzo and Petricka right now. That should be their target early in the draft. They will probably go OF or 3B.

May 16, 201114 yr Just draft the best available, it's too hard to know when each prospect is going to be ready anyways, so best method is to choose the best player.
