You have to be very, very careful with Humber and Peavy. They're set to be the keys to next year...and you can start looking at Stewart/Santiago/Sale/Infante/Reed as well. They'll need to make a determination on Frasor and Bruney, too.

 

Probably not until the final 1-2 weeks of the season, unless the Yankees and Twins just bury us this week. Who knows with this team?

Good bullpen arms are worthless when your team sucks. We could get some good prospects for Ohman, Thornton, Crain.

 

Someone has to fill in when 2 of your starters have trouble making it past 5 innings. Or you could just forfeit on the basis of "good bullpen arms are worthless" because the team sucks.

Hell, even the Red Sox rely on catching lightning in a bottle with half their roster. That was their entire 2010 plan. Or the in and out every year Yankee pitching staff.

It has to be tomorrow. Monday is already written off. Shouldn't be, because of the beginning of the game against Verlander this past week, but we always get rolled by Sabathia. Doesn't matter what team he's pitching for...

 

3-2 the next five games is probably the best-case scenario.

If that deal was done, there's just no way the Indians would be letting him start.

 

Imagine if he got hurt tonight and then the deal hadn't been completed. OUCH.

Yes, agreed. If we're going to make a run for this thing we're going to need him. I am actually quite surprised everyone feels the likely loss tonight should result in a panic selloff of the team and basically do a white flag 2 if you will.

 

If we can get the game tomorrow it's a good start to this important homestand...and with this division as winnable as it is, I dont think we're going to make a move. If we're offered an awesome package for one of our desirable players, however, I wouldn't lose sleep if we did a deal that signified we're packing it in...
