More amazing than that is the group that hates everything to do with this team, yet is watching all of these games and spending a ton of time bellyaching about it.

If it is that bad, walk away.

Wait, really? I hate everything to do with this current team but I always have and will love the White Sox. Unfortunately my love for the team wont let me just walk away and most die hards can't do it, no matter how f***in frustrating and annoying this current group is.

And if we walked away, posters like you would be calling everyone fair-weather fans. We can't complain when the team so obviously needs much restructuring, and if we refuse to be blind to those needs, we're just dark clouds. We can't win.

But either can the Sox, so I guess we're a perfect fit.

So why subject yourself to the torture if you already know the answer?

I'm happy about the sweep, but there's no reason to get excited about being 3 under .500 after 113 games, with a losing record at home and the division.

Get over .500 and under 5 games out, and we'll talk...

Couldn't agree more

Because I'm a fan and I can't tear myself away from the team. I would prefer to watch them make the necessary changes.

So at the end of the day you get all of the torture, and none of the optimism or enjoyment. I don't think you should be making fun of the optimists anymore.

It really hasn't been a piss-poor year, though.

It was a piss-poor 22 game stretch, and then a slightly-better-than-mediocre 3+ months after that (89 win pace over the last 80 games).

The Sox have the fifth highest payroll in Major League Baseball, and as of today, they are three games under .500. I don't know how this has been anything but a piss-poor year.

My God, it's amazing how gullible some people are.

Wow, it's amazing how negative & depressing some people are.

What's wrong with some people trying to find some fun & positivity out of the last two months of the season?? They know there is no baseball to be played from October til April, so might as well try to enjoy what's left, even if it probably will suck.

Just because you don't look at that way, doesn't mean you just have to shoot down all other fans.

I don't mind positivity. Even though there's no logic that accompanies it. This reminds me of when the little black kid from Angels in the Outfield kept saying "it could happen." Why? There's no reason why. It could just happen.

Some of these people were saying recently that the season was done. Since the Sox have swept a terrible team, there's now reason for hope to them? No, that's pure gullibility.

Some people hate who their family is, doesn't mean they don't love them or want them to make a change.

Is there really a need to shoot down fans who just don't think this team has enough in them to make it happen? Because I've gotten hammered for that recently by all the kool aid drinkers after the twins sweep.

That's actually sort of the comparison I was going to make, except I was going to compare posters like SS2k5 to one of those parents who will, under no circumstance, believe that their child did, or would ever, do anything wrong. The child is failing, so it's the teachers fault, or the classroom environment. Whereas, others want to see if there is a problem with any combination of that.

Aren't all White Sox fans gullible then? I mean, the team has about a 1% success rate in winning the WS over the past 93 seasons, yet everyone still watches hoping for a WS win.

I still watch even when I don't feel that they have a chance. I believe I watched (or followed online) every game in 2007.

So no, not every fan is gullible. If you go from believing the team is done to believing over the course of three days because they beat one of the worst teams in baseball, you're gullible.

I'd rather enjoy rooting for the team and always believing things wil get better than being negative about it. There are thirty teams I believe and at the end of a 162 game schedule there will be 6 divisional winners and 2 wild card teams. We all want to win the ultimate prize but only one in thirty will. Failure means some folks will be upset. At the end of the day I just want to see an effort. I think our folks have tried their best. We are 5 1/2 out right now. We did something this past weekend we haven't done in a long time-sweep the Twins in their own ball park. That's a positive. I woud just like to see negativity take a back seat here for awhile. When you look back at a baseball season and think success is a 162-0 year that's just being unrealistic. Fail to win the pennant this year just means there is next year. Tat's the greqat thing about baseball. But, I don't see any reason to be defeatist this year. When the season is over it's over and we will see where we are and talk about how to compete better next year. 29 other clubs will do the same. Leave the optimists alone and I for one won't say anything negative about the pessimists.

162-0 is unrealistic? That's poppycock. I demand an undefeated season. Otherwise I'm not satisfied.

Is it really necessary to shoot down & insult fans who want to try and enjoy the last two months of the season? It's obvious this team's chances are minimal. But if someone wants to play the "what if" game, you don't just have to come out and call him an idiot. Everyone treats their fandom differently and if someone wants to hold out hope until the last possible moment, you don't have to jump on them for it.

So you must be the parent who knows their kids suck, yet spends all day in the casino and leaves their kid in the car as a punishment?

No, I'd try to get to the bottom of what is wrong. And if the kid were at fault, he'd be punished and forced to do more work to raise his grades. I don't gamble at all, actually :D

Thing is the "optimists" are the ones trying to impose their rose-colored will on the "pessimists." "Death to all non-believers?" What kinda short-bus s*** is that? lol. Or were evil because we're not giving Brent Morel a pass for being f***ing terrible? "Oh, well, it's Adam's and Rios' fault that we even notice that Morel has been one of the least productive players in baseball." Please.

Really, -0.1 WAR is "one of the least productive players in baseball"? I thought that would basically be the definition of a replacement player...exactly 0 WAR.

Offensively is what I meant. The defense has been fine. Just like Brian Anderson's was more than fine in '06. I have no faith whatsoever in this organization to develop position players.

Thing is, I never insulted anybody. I put out my thoughts (that weren't even that bad) and I've gotten slammed. If anything, Sox fans have been the worst during these times, I can't even talk to my coworkers nowadays.
