Not sure exactly where this belongs. Story about the Dodgers' drafting philosophy, specifically on Kemp, and how they've ended up with 3 African-American home-grown players in Kemp, Loney and Dee Gordon.

I just heard yesterday that Dee Gordon is son of former Sox reliever Tom Flash Gordon.

Does anybody know how many players we have at extended spring training? Guys who are not yet on a team roster.

Corrected fo accuracy. How are some guys journeymen despite being pretty darn effective throughout long careers? Arthur Rhodes and Dotel also come to mind.

Agreed, take a flier on him.

Is there a reason why Jon Gilmore is still in Birmingham, and Brady Shoemaker isn't? Or Dan Black?

Gilmore is the second coming of Joe Crede. KW said so.

K-Town Intimidators ‏@Intimidators

Intimidators starting pitchers vs. Crawdads: Monday: G1: Brandon Parrent, G2: Matt Lane. Tuesday: G1: Blair Walters, G2: Jefferson Olacio.

J.R. Ballinger sent to Kanny from W-S, Collin Kuhn retires.

Per the Tribune:

Pitcher Thomas Royse, who missed all of 2011 because of right elbow surgery, threw four innings in a recent extended spring game in Arizona. Royse was a third-round supplemental draft pick in 2010.

Awesome. Hopefully he can get going again.

Yeah, he'll be interesting to follow. Glad to see he'll be a starter too.

And Ballinger is back to Winston-Salem.

And Ballinger is back to Winston-Salem.

He was just there to cover during the double-header.

Orioles moved Dylan Bundy to High-A.

Apparently the Sally League wasn't much of a challenge. 30 innings, 2 walks, 40 K's, 0.00 ERA

He retired something like 49 of the first 52 batters he faced.

The White Sox bought the contract of OF Jon Gaston from Fargo-Moorhead. Former Astros farmhand, big year in the California League in 2009, only 25, typical power hitter with lots of K's and a mediocre average. Likely going to B'ham, Jon Gilmore was put on the DL today.

And, Cyle Hankerd's contract was purchased from Amarillo. He's going to Kanny. Although, I think he might be coming to B'ham as well. He's 27 and he has 3 years of experience at AA, in the Southern League no less. I think that means he wouldn't be eligible to play in Low-A. The Barons are carrying 3 catchers at the moment, Dubler or Sierra could be DL'd to make room for Hankerd.
