I dunno, I only raise a Q because I sorta wonder whether the definition of a Fluke includes "unable to win your own conference". I guess you could say it doesn't, but since a title is the goal...either way it'd be a disappointment.

I think he is reflecting on how many said that the Bulls would be unable to replicate the success they had last season. There was a lot of talk about regression and that they played over their heads last season, that is could not continue.

 

Of course they need to beat the heat in order to validate their #1 seed, but there didn't seem to be much if any regression, especially considering the injury issues that were simply non-existant last season.

I'd say that Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah strongly disagree that the Bulls injury issues were non-existent last season, but anyway. I get what is being said, I just can't find reason to brag until the conference finals are won. Really, that's the only focus I've got.

 

I mean, otherwise, this team could lose to the 76ers in the first or the Celtics in the 2nd and then people would still say "See, they were a fluke, just doing it in the regular season but they can't hang with the big boys".

I am feeling good after watching pretty much all of the players who sucked in the playoffs last year (Noah, Boozer, Korver especially) playing so well going into the playoffs.

Hopefully this pisses some guys off...

Heading into the final day of the regular season Thursday, the Sixers are on track to face the Bulls in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. That's a matchup that Turner is looking forward to.

 

"I think we'll be able to compete well against Chicago," Turner told the Times, "and have an opportunity to win the series."

 

Turner's comments were met by a collective shoulder shrug in the Bulls' locker room Wednesday night.

 

"Well, all right," Bulls guard Kyle Korver said. "I'm not going to get into a war of words with Evan Turner. All right, come play us."

 

Korver believes the Bulls will be ready no matter which team they face.

 

"Our goal is to win a championship," Korver said. "We don't care who we play, first round, second round, third round, we want to go through everybody. That's our mindset. We don't want to go around anybody. We got the one seed and we're ready for whoever's eight."

 

Derrick Rose had the same mindset as well.

 

"There's been teams that said they want to play us before," Rose said. "So I don't got nothing to say about it."

 

Joakim Noah just smiled and took the comments in stride.

 

"That's cool," Noah said.

 

When asked why the comments didn't bother him, Noah took the "one game at a time approach" that Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau always preaches.

 

"Why doesn't it bother me?" Noah said. "At the end of the day you've got to go out there and play the game, so we're only worried about us right now and we'll worry about Evan Turner when we need to worry about Evan Turner, if ... God willing."

All these idiots must not realize that half the Bulls roster still cleaned up with the NBA's best record.

Meh, Evan Turner will go out the way Danny Granger and his Pacers did last year, in 5 games. Right now the 76ers wouldn't get past any EC team except maybe the Howard-less Magic
