2012 TV Thread

So I was looking into the movie Dark Shadows this past week because I think it looks hilarious...and I realized it is loosely based on a gothic and campy soap opera that aired on ABC in the 60's...anyone ever seen that?

I never saw it, but the actor that played the Johnny Depp character just died last week. That's when I learned it was a TV show.

Also, Tim Burton sucks, as will this movie.

I've never cared for his movies either...and I deliberately avoid them...but this one has me very intrigued...

There was also a short lived newer version. I think it was in the early 90's? I remember watching it, but I don't remember it being too good. Slow, like a soap opera.

Completely agree. I think his movies take themselves too seriously at times. They're so strange that they should always be comedies. I think this can work.

It's so hard not spoiling these threads when you already know all the answers.

Without spoiling anything, I will say that the second half of this season and the next 2 are going to really pick up. Outside of Jon and Arya none of my favorite characters have really been introduced yet.

I'm partial to Tyrion myself. Beric Dondarrion, Barristan Selmy, Oberyn Martell, Victarion Greyjoy, Mance Rayder and Ramsey Snow are bad asses though. Sorry about the spelling. I'm on the phone.

Johnny Depp has played basically the same character for a decade or more now. I'm getting tired of all of the praise he gets.

The Killing is just getting strange.

Suddenly, this new kid who was friends with Rosie is claiming Stan wasn't her father? Wtf.

Also, the Stan/Terri thing was hinted at pretty heavily, but it's still weird...unless that somehow ties into why he isn't Rosie's father? And Terri is just screwed up in the head, I don't know how/if she keeps it together, since she's going back to the escort thing.

Amen. One of the most overrated actors of all time.

Anyone else watch the Ricky Gervais Show? I watched the last one and was crying laughing. The whole bit about the movie with Tom Cruise was hilarious.

Oh my God, I LOL'd at VEEP multiple times. That show is hilariously not-PC.

My theory:

Rosie's father is actually the councilman. Stan is the killer.

Oh snap. That'd be pretty awesome. I actually kind of like that one.

I heard through the grapevine that the new South Park was hilarious.

The history lesson of Game of Thrones was slaying me.

Nice, need to catch that. Hopefully it can help make up for the other garbage HBO has been putting out there.

The climate change line was probably the best of the bunch. That whole thing is better without the gay joke.

I liked the Ron Paul "iron standard" joke

Throughout the books, it is strongly suggested that Renly was at least bi-sexual

In the tv show its less likely as he wont even get naked with Natalie Dormer.
