Another awesome thing about that picture: I think he's throwing a slider there, but I'm not sure. It's really hard to tell what he's throwing and I get the feeling hitters agree.

Looks like a slider. Two fingers gripping on one seam.

I just hope Sale woke up this morning and his arm felt good.

His arm action and angle are almost identical, though. There aren't many giveaways like there are with the standard overhand arm angle. Throwing 97 with that kind of disguised pitch is just filthy. Love it!

Can't tell what pitch from that photo. Many pitchers throw fastballs with fingers together, especially those that throw 2 seamers. Not a change though, obviously.

The difference is that he's got the two fingers on one seam (it appears that way to me, not easy to tell). Two seamers usually aren't thrown with fingers together. If they are, it's towards the middle of the ball, not on the seams.

Also, the positioning of his thumb also seems like a slider grip.

Any picture of any pitcher, even one with the best mechanics in the world, looks horrifying to the human eye cause we as non-athletes can't throw the baseball like they can. Hell, any still photograph of something that to the human eye goes by in a second looks weird...

Gotta believe Sale's start fired-up the staff. Phillip, do this.

Pena 1B

Upton CF

Joyce RF

Zobrist 2B

Scott DH

Matsui LF

Lobaton C

Sutton 3B

Johnson SS

That's 4 lefties & four switch hitters.

LHB vs. Humber: .271/.368/.483

RHB vs. Humber: .182/.270/.273

Matsui? Interesting.

Ha, apparently Cooper snapped on reporters asking pitch count questions about Sale. Something to the effect of "Pitch counts are for people who have never played the game"

Lol I have no idea why they make him available to reporters.

Rowand and I are attending

That was cool, minus bad throw.

Decent first inning

nice job rios with the single

That's why players hate AJ.

Pierzynski really spiked Zobrist there with his left cleat.

Will be interesting to see if there's any payback for AJ.

Probably deserves to wear one for that.

Tampa may not want to do it with all the scrutiny they've had lately.

1-2-3 inning for Phil.

Might want to rethink that last pitch there

base hit please Dunn

Yeah Dunn why did you swing at that?

Shields destroying our hitters with that change-up. They better not be expecting a fastball on 3-2 count.
