Although they planned to be over the tax for the first time this season, Derrick Rose's stated reluctance to return from ACL surgery before he's "110 percent" presents a dilemma. Why pay the tax and burn a year on the clock that begins ticking this season toward massive repeater-tax penalties for a less-than-championship season? For that reason, sources say the Bulls are open to moving Rip Hamilton in a deal that makes sense and saves them a year on the repeater-tax rolls.

J-Smoove wants a max contract - the Bulls can't be giving up assets for a rental player in this season - especially a guy like Smoove who would take forever to learn the system and even longer to carve out a role.

 

If they'd take like Boozer, Teague, and the Bobcats pick, ok, because it's a salary dump - but the Hawks would be better off letting him walk (or taking a deal with Dallas).

While tanking and hoping for a decent draft pick makes sense on one hand, you have a lot of people paying a lot of money to see the Bulls in person.
