Good game. Heat were great early but Spurs just kept playing their game. Lebron will probably score more in future games, but the Spurs missed some wide-open shots on the other end. Somebody needs to slap the s*** out of Bosh and tell him he's not Dirk. I can get one or two 3's, but 6? Come on...

 

Edit- Guess it was only 4 for Bosh. Could have sworn he was 0-5 then missed it at the buzzer (which I guess didn't count). Point remains, you need SOME shots within 15 feet of the basket.

Spurs' top-6 is very good. Leonard would probably average in the high-teens if he played on a horses*** team instead of the Spurs. Green is deadly from 3 and Manu still has his moments too.

Game 1 shoulda been a good chance for the Heat. The Spurs with a week+ off, rusty, in Miami, Miami on 2 days rest so their legs are a little fresher than they'll be the rest of the series. Miami will start feeling the lack of rest more every game this series.

Dennis Rodman says LeBron James would be "average" if he played in the 1990s, and insists James' Miami Heat would be no match for his old Chicago Bulls team.

 

"It's really not a comparison. If LeBron was playing in the late '80s and early '90s he would be just an average player," Rodman said Friday on "The Dan Patrick Show." "To do what Michael has done ... what he did was more charisma, there was more articulating and stuff like that. LeBron is more like ... there's no flash to his game. He's a great player, don't get me wrong, he's a hell of player, I'll give him that. But to me Scottie (Pippen) and Michael are probably the two best 1-2 punches I've ever seen."

 

Rodman, who won three NBA titles with Jordan's Bulls from 1996-98, said a 28-year-old Jordan would average at least 40 points a game in today's NBA.

 

"I'm just sick and tired of people comparing (James) to Michael Jordan," Rodman said. "It's a whole different era, man."

 

Rodman said Jordan thrived despite playing in a more physical era in the NBA.

 

"LeBron came into the age of the game at a perfect time. Michael came into the game when back then you could hit people, knock him down, shoot a free throw and get back up," Rodman said. "And LeBron can't do that. All they do today is (complain) about a foul. All they do is (complain)."

 

James, who has been to the NBA Finals in each of his three seasons in Miami, won his first title last season. The Heat lost Game 1 of the Finals to the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday.

 

Rodman believes his best Bulls team would easily defeat James' Heat.

 

"It would be no contest. The Heat has better talent than we had, but we had smarter players," Rodman said. "That's the only thing we had, smarter players. ... I would take Bosh out of his damn game easy. That's not even a problem. And how would Dwyane Wade match up with Scottie Pippen? Really? And Scottie Pippen would guard LeBron easy. And how are you going to cover those two guys (Jordan and Pippen)?"

I don't agree with him when he says the Heat had better players. If you are going to match them up talent wise, the only guy you can say is clearly better overall is Birdman. Rodman would destroy Bosh defensively and Bosh would never grab a board. Pippen was faster and stronger than Wade and had a stronger jumper. I've also said my piece on Jordan. And really, Chalmers and Harper were 3rd or 4th options at best, so it doesn't really matter who is the best out of those two.

I agree with everything except the fact that Lebron is average. LBJ would be special in any era. One of the best ever and he could have easily handled the physicality of the 80's/90's.

I'd argue it would have been better for his career had he played in that era. He would have had an equal (Jordan) to compete with. The only recent championship team that would have given the Bulls problems was the Lakers teams coached by Phil w/Shaq & Kobe. Bulls had absolutely no one that could stop Shaq and even during the latter years struggled greatly against those Lakers teams which fell short to Utah (thankfully cause they matched up great against the late 90 bulls squads).

 

And I think all but the last of the Bulls championship squads beats those Laker teams. Definitely the early 90's bulls squads with Cartwright and Grant.

I don't think stopping Shaq would have been the key to beating those Laker teams, anymore than it was in beating his Orlando teams (excluding the series when Jordan had just come back from baseball). They'd play hack-a-Shaq, and he'd get his points, but it would come down to other match-ups. I do agree that the Bulls still win.
