Hey I'm not the best writer/expressor of opinion all the time. Mark is a god, small g. I love the guy. I wish he was on this Sox team. I personally think he's the best starting pitcher in Sox history. Modern Sox history at least.

Oh and BTW Loria is an awful owner, but Ozzie created that situation for himself. If he hadn't gone all short bus in Chicago he might still be here where he never realized how good he had it.

Is Ozzie getting fired or not?

If Ozzie is fired and doesn't manage another team, what should he do next?

 

I can think of a lot of things Ozzie could do. He definitely should come back to Chicago. How about opening a restaurant ? How about putting him in the booth with The hawk and Stoney? How about a show on the SCORE?

 

To the best of my knowledge, the press in Chicago still likes him. Probably bc he gives them good material to work with.

While this is true, any front office that decided they want him (Or need him in Miami's case. They seemingly couldn't get him fast enough)having seen his body of work in Chicago should know damn well that verbal diarrhea comes with the package much like his children and Joey Cora do.

 

When a front office goes out and signs a manager up for 2 or more years, and then fires him before the playoffs even begin- that makes the manager look bad, but it makes the front office look incompetent as well. In Florida's case, that was well known for years.

Very true. That's what may save Ozzie's job. By firing Ozzie after one season, Loria will look really really dumb. He may have to say the Castro stuff had something to do with it to save face, but that ship may have sailed. In retrospect, he could have canned him after the Castro thing and probably not had to pay him.
