New Sox GM busy: Team extends Peavy for two years and exercise option on Gavin Floyd. Solidifies starting staff. Got creative on Peavy deal.

Edited by SOXOBAMA

Are we not paying him the buyout? Does that number include the buyout?

Ewww.

I like the Peavy deal though.

Keeping Gavin AND Peavy could make for a hell of a pitching staff

I believe we might trade Floyd for a 3B

Did not see that coming.

Dirty. Just dirty. Santiago-Axelrod not bad as depth, either.

Sox decline option on Youkilis and Myers, so will seek 3B and late-inning help. Strong opening statement about starting pitching by Hahn.

Yeah thats just nasty

Glad your staying Peavy!

Details on Peavy: Two years, $29M with incentives that could bring him back in '15. Floyd will make $9.5M in 2013.

per DavidHaugh on Twitter

If we are NOT paying Peavs the $4M buyout in addition to the 29M, you're looking at it being similar to 2/$25 which would have made most of us happy.

Floyds not coming back

Eh, I guess that's close to market value.

Good to know we have the Jakemiester back though.

If Peavy reaches certain IP totals, he comes back for '15 at $15M

Peavy gets $14.5M in both 2013 and 2014. If Peavy reaches IP thresholds in 2013 and 2014 seasons, he can extend contract to 2015 at $15M.

I think Youk is next in line

Well said. We should have a chance to win every game. Now we need a #3 hitter so we can start winning some WS.

Awesome. Two thumbs up for both sides.

Good start to the off season.
