The TV stuff is interesting, but the gesture stuff is just annoying. Who the f*** wants to say "Xbox, on" or "Live TV" or waive their hands in the air like idiots when a remote control works perfectly fine?

Spend some R&D money on some useful innovations please.

I think it would be pretty cool to say Xbox on and have it turn on. Something tells me it won't work that well, though.

I don't think there's really any useful innovations left. At least I hope it's why every new piece of technology seems loaded with useless crap...

How about this scenario?

"Hey Jim, is your Xbox off?"

*Beep*

"It is now, asshole"

Announcing it 3 months later =/= developing it 3 months later.

And the products are going to be released at pretty much the exact same time. There is no difference other than Sony announcing their product first. Your Sony-homers are going to buy the PS4 and talk about it being superior, your XBox-homers are going to buy the One and talk about how it's superior, and the machines are going to be so similar that arguing over which is better is going to be like arguing whether doggy style or cowgirl is better, when in reality nobody should honestly give two s***s because both will be awesome (and very expensive).

Ok great. I don't see your point about people not being excited about this XboxOne announcement.

This thing may be DOA if this is true. From Kotaku:

But what if you want to bring a game disc to a friend's house and play there? You'll have to pay a fee—and not just some sort of activation fee, but the actual price of that game—in order to use a game's code on a friend's account. Think of it like a new game, Harrison says.

I don't know if that's true. I heard they charge a "small fee", not the entire full price. Either way, people are going to start buying games as a group.

Lets say the game costs $60, and the "small fee" costs $20. Since the game downloads on the systems, you won't need the disc anymore, so you and a friend could go in on a game for $80, or $40 each. If used that way, and if that can be a loophole, then it sounds beneficial.

Well, it is from the VP so I assume it is true. And yeah, I think the group buying is exactly the reason they are going through with a full fee.

ugh, looks like its going to be focused around kinect.. i dont like that

yeah, microsoft coulda kept the damn kinect and whatever costs it takes to include it in the whole package and used that to do something like beef up the system more maybe? Im disappointed as an xbox fan. If PS4 uses this to catapult their system forward and announce something insane like "hey ps4 wont block used games", ill gladly put the first nail in the xbox coffin.

Beef up the system? So, what do you want, 16GB of RAM instead 8GB? Do you ever use more than 3 on a PC in any given day? I love the idea of making a console a hub for all media. If everything works as planned, Sony shouldn't be worried, Comcast should. This is one step closer to combining cable, computing and gaming in 1 machine. These are good things. There's no reason to have multiple machines if 1 can do everything you want. A central media hub is the future. At some point, you'll have every TV and computer wifi'd through 1 box.

I could be wrong, but I believe it was confirmed that the Ps4 WILL NOT block used games.

that would explain why one of the most monopolistic video game companies ever in EA would decide to team up with the console that will have measures to prevent used games.

What do you mean by "team up"?

during the reveal, the EA rep (Andrew Wilson) talked up the "brand new, broad, strategic partnership between EA and Microsoft." As far as what they showed during the reveal Andrew Wilson only mentioned, for now, that Xbox players will get exclusive FIFA 14 Ultimate team content. Who knows what other things this "exclusive" partnership will bring, but i doubt its nothing more than some measly DLC that ill probably never use.

Here is a comparison by IGN of the specs from the two consoles.

http://www.ign.com/wikis/xbox-one/PS4_vs._...omparison_Chart

Why does the XB1 say it has "WIFI", while the Ps4 does not? I assume the "IEEE 802.11 b/g/n " is some sort of WIFI? I can't imagine it wouldn't be...

Yep it is Wifi. Any guys familiar with the subject know whether or not its a big deal that the consoles dont use 802.11ac? Or is that technology just "irrelevant" for now like 4k TVs?

Oh okay, I'm fine with that. I was worried it meant EA wouldn't be making games for Ps4, which would be a colossal mistake on their part.

I see no problem with the used game fees they are talking about.. I buy everything new anyways..

Here is my question.. you have to install all games onto your xbox1 to play them, then you dont need the disc anymore from my understanding.. so does this mean I can buy a new game, go home and install it, and then trade it in immediately for max store credit? If so, I love this idea..

The used game market is going to be dead. So there won't be anywhere to trade it in.

Probably can't return it to the store, but I'm sure you can sell it online and get some money for it. There is literally no use for a retail intermediary market, which is a good thing because those places just f*** you on charges like nobody's business.

"I will give you $0.72."

"THIS GAME IS EXTREMELY RARE, IT WILL COST YOU $46.99"

XBOX already announced they are working on a way for gamers to buy and trade games, so no it wont be dead.. it just might not be the exact same as it is now

Well, I imagine each game will come with an install code - so trying to sell it online immediately after installing it would still result in the other user not being able to play without plunking over cash.

Think of it like installing computer software - one code per disc, disc contains install files. That's it. Not hard to regulate at all and big bad Carl Slack isn't going to crack the code!
