July 3, 201312 yr Author QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 02:56 PM) I'm in What about flowers, chairs, chair covers, tables, lighting, transportation to and from, center pieces. There is so much s*** I never even knew existed. Make sure you know all the details. We had 300 people about so you can see how much discount we got and how much stuff we cut out. Yeah, we're at about $2500 for the equipment and linens and all that s***. I think the b**** is going to be the flowers. Badger, you can be Rock's date

Badger, you can be Rock's date We would make a nice couple. I'm leading the slow dance. We cut way down on flowers and she made things like the center pieces. It saved us over 10k.
July 3, 201312 yr Give us the address and date and time and you may see some 'Wedding Crashers' at your wedding if it's in Vegas. Does the heat affect summertime wedding planning in Vegas? I would think wearing black on a 115-degree day would bother some. Edited July 3, 201312 yr by greg775

July 4, 201312 yr QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 03:43 PM) I cringe at stuff like that because you know half the audience is thinkng"wtf is she doing?" This. It's also boring after about 30 seconds.
July 4, 201312 yr QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 4, 2013 -> 02:08 AM) This. It's also boring after about 30 seconds. It seems like it might have been a long speech before the rapping as well. They sped up the speech part of it on the tape so it must have been long n boring. Upon further review, I watched the whole video and the people all seemed to love it and it was pretty solid and unique. Kudos to the sister/maid of honor. Good job. August 1, 201312 yr So trying to get a nice, colored stone in an unusual cut is kind of a pain in the ass
October 18, 201312 yr Author So looking at honeymoon destinations. Going to try and keep this relatively affordable because we're way over budget on the wedding at this point. Probably going to leave the 28th or 29th of April, and go for 6 nights. Heard http://www.capellahotels.com/ixtapa/default-en.html is pretty awesome. Anyone ever been?
October 18, 201312 yr QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 03:01 PM) Never went on ours....Knocked her up too fast I guess thats a bonus of waiting until your wedding night?

November 11, 201312 yr Author So the most important thing for me in this whole wedding planning fiasco was to get great pictures. The night will come and go, the food will be eaten, the drinks consumed, the music danced to, and it will just be a memory...but the photos will last for the rest of our lives. I wanted to get an awesome photographer because my family just never took/kept that many photos and I always felt like I missed out on family heritage/history, especially considering my father passed away when I was only four. I was determined to have a LOT of photos taken...GOOD photos...of this time in my life. Not only for my fiancée and I, but for our parents, and any future children and their families. So bottom line, we paid a s***load of money for basically the best photographer in Vegas. As part of the package we purchased, we received an "engagement session" which included an hour or so of pictures around town and then back at our home. We did that a few weeks ago and got the photos back over the weekend...176 of them actually. I must say, I couldn't be happier with how they turned out. Not because of how either of us looked or anything, but rather because of the quality. These photos are ad agency quality and many of them will look great framed in our home. I would f***ing kill for photos like these of my parents together when they were young, and of my father in general. Hopefully my children (if I have any) and grandchildren will enjoy knowing who and where they came from. I would highly recommend any of you guys that are getting married to spend the money on the photos...IMHO it is very worth the expense.
November 12, 201312 yr At first, I thought this was going to be "my photog was horrible, here's how to avoid my pain" Then...you said you got the "engagement session" and I thought it was going to be a deal like "so the photog was going to film us...consummate." But then it was just a nice story...

In fact, I said something similar earlier in this thread. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jun 26, 2013 -> 01:31 PM) I don't even think I knew that wedding planners existed when I got married. We did everything as inexpensively as we could (only spent a couple thousand total) and still had a really nice wedding with a wedding party of 14 people. Our biggest expense was the pictures and it was definitely money well spent. Those are what will stay long after the ceremony is over and the dancing, food and drinking is done. Plus our photographer pretty much planned out our entire day for us. We did separate pictures at the church before the wedding and then with everyone together after the ceremony. Then during the reception they planned out when everything would be done so they could get pictures. First dance, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, cutting of the cake, throwing of the bouquet, etc... It all went really smoothly and after all the "formalities" at the reception were done, we were free to do whatever we wanted the rest of the night. My friend tried to save money by hiring one guy to do the pictures and be the DJ at the reception and they really regretted it. My wife has always said that if we ever had a house fire, our wedding album is the one thing she would run back in to grab after the kids and pets were out.

February 22, 201412 yr Author So for our grand entrance, I am planning a bit of a skit...we want it to be humorous and provide some memories and a reason to watch the video... We're going to walk in to "Is she really going out with him?" By Joe Jackson. I will be wearing a gorilla mask and holding a banana...at some point after the chorus plays, "Code Name Vivaldi" by the Piano Guys (this is basically the Bourne Identity theme) will come on...we will look very confused...suddenly three ninjas will come running out to attack me and come beat my ass while I try to defend my bride...just before they an get to her, the bridal party will race out to beat down the ninjas...I will then get up, remove the gorilla mask all proud of myself for saving my bride (even though my wedding party did all the heavy lifting) as the chorus of Aloe Blacc's "the Man" blares. My wife will then elbow me in the gut to humble me and Capital Cities' "Safe and Sound" will play while we make it back to the head table. Anyone else do anything incredibly stupid like this at their wedding?
February 22, 201412 yr No offense, but if I was ever at a wedding that did something like that, I'd get my gift back and leave. Choreographed dance numbers, I'll put up with. Rehearsed speeches can be good. This maybe too far. But I don't like weddings, so my opinion means ???

To see people's reactions. Why would you get your gift back and leave? P.S. - I don't like weddings either.
February 23, 201412 yr Though everyone will likely laugh, they'll likely be doing it to fit in, all the while thinking "what the f***?" Try to create memories in a different way. I wouldn't want that to be the lasting image from my wedding.
