It's not impossible for police to be racial-profiling s***heads, let's not rule that one out.

Source tells CNN's John King that Boston authorities believe they have identified a suspect in bombings.

I'd really like to know what the probable cause was in the petition for the search warrant. There had to have been something he did or said that made investigators think he was a "person of interest" for nearly 24 hours. Something a Judge had to sign off on.

They said his statements were weird like "I thought there was going to be another explosion" that was probably enough.

I find it unlikely considering you had multiple agencies involved, but anything is possible.

Too many store security cameras in that area not to get the guy on tape at some point. Plus, if he used a credit card to buy any of the stuff in the bombs, that will make it easier.

NBC's Pete Williams: To say that "there's a suspect [in the Boston bombings] is simply not correct"

CNN is running with this now:

Investigators believe they have identified a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings, a source who has been briefed on the investigation told CNN's John King exclusively.

The breakthrough came from analysis of video from a department store near the site of the second explosion. Video from a Boston television station also contributed to the progress, said the source, who declined to be more specific but called it a significant development.

We'll see if they have turned themselves into the NYPost or not.

AP source: Arrest imminent in marathon bombings

King now says an arrest has been made, citing CNN's Fran Townsend and a Boston law enforcement source.

Let's just hope we are correct and not jump to conclusions. Let's remember 96 olympic bombings and 00 anthrax cases where wrong people were arrested initially.

Yep. I hope they get the right guy.

Sounds like they have video of at least one of the bombs being placed. Hopefully it's definitive.

This was a very fast turnaround between the event happening an apparently an arrest. One would think that if the police are moving like that, they have something fairly solid.

I can't imagine that detailed forensics, like pulling data off of fractured chips of circuit boards and tracking them around the country, or analyzing the detailed composition of the bombs and backtracking to the seller of the components, could have happened yet.

I wondered about this. How on earth did this guy think he was going to get away with it at the finish line? He had to know there would be a TON of video cameras rolling.

He/she probably didn't care? Maybe they are trying to be a matyr?

If the guy wasn't very good at covering his tracks, it's very believable that the Feds have it figured out already.

Wow. Some people on 4chan are compiling photos of possible Boston bomb suspects. Solid, very compelling work here. http://bit.ly/XGI25h

Was just reading about this. Very interesting, but the obvious downside is what happens if someone is identified incorrectly?

yeah, I'm going to say that's a really terrible idea and is going to lead to a lot of people, victims actually, having their lives picked apart by random internet morons. The "Saudi Suspect" has already had his name and personal information go through the wringer.

Ha, geez. Basically you have guys that look middle eastern or disheveled old white guys. That doesn't help.

Interesting stuff in the pics, but hard to conclude anything. Pretty easy to make someone with a black backpack with silver straps look suspicious with just a few pictures -- why is he looking this direction? Why did he stand here for so long? etc

CNN backtracking on arrest. Wow, idiots
