Why daughter is moving to the Lakeview neighborhood. I will be visiting the first weekend in August when the Sox are in Detroit. The Cubs will be playing the Dodgers. We could about walk to Wrigley from LSD. Why wife and my daughter have never been to Wrigley. :huh

No. Wrigley is a dump.

Don't do it.

Meh. I went once for the experience. If you've never been there before, you might as well see the place.

Its baseball, if you enjoy the sport I say why not go?

I usually go to 4 or 5 Cubs games a year. I don't paint my face blue or sing their insufferable song if they win, but I love the park, and it's MLB baseball. Bonus if it's a night game, I love that place at night.

Go have fun with your wife and daughter

Theo needs extra money to make them competitive

I don't understand why you wouldn't go.

I'm no fan of the Cubs, but I still don't mind getting drunk at Wrigley. Go.

I live really close to Wrigley, I go to games when my friends give me free tickets. Watching a game isnt bad there as long as you dont get obstructed view. The amenities are terrible.

Might as well go.

I'd go, but I still don't see how people say they "love the park", because the park flat out sucks. Everything about it is just bad. I have no issues with loving the history, not that it's a very good history, but I at least get that. But loving the physical structure itself is an exercising in "loving" bad.

i think you should check it out

I think it's a great history, much in the way Blazing Saddles is a great movie.

Much of it is atmospheric and the placement of the park itself- right in the middle of a residential area. You're right on top of the field and have a good view just about anywhere with the exception of seats right behind a pole or the deeper seats in the lower level bowl. Deteriorating structure isn't anything that can't be rectified, and apart from that, most of the complaints (off the top of my head) are bathroom troughs (ok), parking (ok), no jumbotron (they add absolutely nothing IMO), crappy locker rooms (na), and less than ideal batting cages (na). I especially enjoy the absence of loud noises and an electronic billboa...err, jumbotron that most teams employ to cater to fans afflicted with short attention spans. Unfortunately, it looks like that will be changing in the near future.

How's the bathrooms for the women? If he's gonna take his wife and daughter, they might not like the long waits for bathroom use if it's like it used to be when I last went to a Cub game.

I'd go if you get good seats and only if you get good seats.

The 1,000,000 year old bats that the Cubs employ as ushers are a lot less picky about sitting in the seat on your ticket once it becomes apparent that the Cubs are going to be an abysmal baseball team again that season. There are exceptions- Cardinals, White Sox, and AL teams that don't often come around (NYY/BOS). Year round interleague play may ease demand for the higher profile AL team games.

Wrigley's not horribad. The park is very different compared to other parks, but I don't get the historical feeling when I go there really. The ivy is nice, but that's more or less the only thing that stands out IMO. The food sucks (roof top food FTW though), the place is dirty, and the bathrooms are awful.

It would be nice for the casual fans who don't memorize player numbers to know who is who on the field. Especially since the Cubs players don't have names on the backs of their home jerseys.

The food at wrigley is terrible, but there are a lot of places to eat right around the park. If you have a specific type of food I can give some recommendations otherwise here are a few places that I like that arent really expensive (about $10 per person)

Sandwich place, there thing is they put the fries in the sandwich. Pretty good, but most importantly, not excessively expensive.

Previously Ian's Pizza, I have a special place in my heart for it as it started next to my apartment in Madison. Exotic pizza by the slice, not as cheap as the old days, but 2 pieces for $7.50 isnt terrible either.

The other 2 places were half a block from Wrigley, this one is maybe 4-5 blocks away. Ridiculously good Korean Fried Chicken.

Another one that is a little bit further (south), but it has fun hamburgers and once again, is not extremely expensive.

Crisp is amazing chicken, voted best in the nation according to some magazines. But it's way more than 4-5 blocks away. It's like a mile away.
