He did throw up a .597 OPS in AAA this year. His numbers definitely suggest he's a White Sox.

Mods shouldn't the title now reflect this ? :5/6/13 RHP Gavin Floyd will undergo season-ending surgery tomorrow in New York City to repair the ulnar collateral ligament & a torn flexor muscle in his elbow. Expected recovery time for Floyd, 30, is approximately 14-19 months. moved to 60 day DL

I always hear fans talk about trading Castro. Rizzo not so much.

Because they can argue they have a better prospect behind him in Baez.

Castro's game has many flaws, he's had some issues off the field, etc.

For whatever reason, they're pouring all their marketing efforts into Rizzo.

I think it's one thing to trade a player in that situation....but you can't do it consistently without alienating your fanbase.

Clearly, there is a difference between trading a player to maximize his return in prospects, and trading him because you have a better, cheaper option behind him (see the Sox with what they were TRYING to accomplish with the Sergio Santos deal as Reed was declared the heir-apparent).

I hadn't seen that he had a tear in the flexor tendon as well. That will extend the recovery time a bit.

When they took the MRI they said it showed nothing. If the test is that unreliable, why do they take it?

Here's a question: did they flat out miss the tears last year when he had similar pain?

Quite possible.

Or we're not giving him nearly enough credit for "manning up" and pitching in pain as we should have. (Not that it's advisable from the club's point of view, but it is respected by his teammates, like Konerko trying to play through last season).
