Sounds like he pronounces it Mike-er, and I heard Buddy Bell say it the same way yesterday.

Bell said Zapata will visit the Bristol club and workout with them...he can't play.

Then Instructional League this fall, and I think he said Dominican summer league next year.

BTW-- this was his father's minor league stats...

I remember him, vaguely. Vladimir Guerrero played the season before for Albany.

Yes, it is a pay site, but it's part of the preview section, so anyone can see it.

Basically, Parks really likes him, saw him at a DR showcase. Thinks he is already a top five talent in our system, thinks his hit tool is good enough that has a chance to be "more than an all or nothing power threat"

I took the content out of the post because it comes from a pay site.

My bad, I'm sorry. Since I have BP subscription I always seem to forget that everyone doesn't have access...

No biggie, that is why I just changed it myself. :)

Does this mean he's skipping DSL, or are the player development people just getting a closer look?

Per Bristol Sox, it was just a workout. He is not being assigned to Bristol at this time.

Does the fact that he's an American kid mean he may go to Bristol sooner than later? Or allow him to spend time in instructional leagues in the fall or anything like that?

The fact that there won't be any visa issues has to help speed things up a bit.

According to Bell, Zapata will start with the White Sox Arizona Rookie League entry in 2014. He'll then move to Bristol or MLB the following season.

Fixed for irrationality.
