Rios, $1M traded to Rangers

If they pick up even $6 mill, I don't see any reason they can't make this work with someone.

We need Kenny to get a job with someone else. He would totally be taking all of our players right now :)

Rios takes so much heat for dogging it when so many MLB players fail to run things out or fail to run hard.

It's the single most infuriating thing about baseball

The reason Rios takes so much "heat" for dogging it because he is notorious for taking days and plays off. The guy may have the most talent on the entire team and due to his mental strength he's an average player for the majority of his career. When a regular joe schmo sees someone with that much talent making that much money and not give 100% effort fans have every right to get on him. It's not like he is a first time offender. Whether its Alex Rios or the best player to ever play the game if you dog it and take plays off you deserve the criticism that comes your way. IMO there is no defending Rios and they way he has pissed his career away with a lack of effort.

And it's evident I'm not the only one with that opinion. That's why the sox got him on waiver for NOThInG. And why if the Sox want to rid themselves of him will have to waive him for NOtHInG too. I hope I'm wrong but it doesn't look good

I don't think Rios or Alexei get traded today.

I would feel that way if bucket hadn't made it seem like a deal was, in fact, likely

Could be misreading that enigma though

PHEW, all bases are covered

Rios may be more attractive a year from now. He will be playing for a contract, will have little time left on this contract, and will probably cost the Sox about the same to pay him until then and have him on the roster that it will cost to dump him now. Unless you are getting a really good prospect, paying a ton of money to make him go away makes little sense unless he is a total drag in the clubhouse.

it seems as if both bucket and rock think Rios will be moved today.. so ill hold out hope

I'm still trying to figure out what this bucket character has provided that make people think he has a clue as to what is going on this past month.

I was watching Kirkjian on ESPN and he thought rios' contract would prevent him getting moved. I hope he's gone. We'll see. I don't expect much, honestly. That's why I wasn't that thrilled with a fire sale b/c our assets we'd trade are all priced highly.

Well I think he is going to be moved too. And Lindstrom. But not Alexei.

I have been suggesting this for a while. Bucket has solid info, but sources get jumbled and changed in a heartbeat, especially at this time of year. Believing anything anybody says until something is actually going down is silly.

I agree with this. We certainly aren't going to get too much for Rios and will have to throw in some money, but I definitely think he gets moved after the acquisition of Garcia yesterday. Lindstrom will get traded for whatever we can get, which won't be much. Only way Alexei gets moved is if we throw in some serious cash and I don't see that happening.

MLB network says Braves need backup infielder.....it's Keppinger Time!!!!!

I'm pretty sure if any poster really knew such and such was about to happen and was OK posting it, they would post it. I just don't understand asking him or her questions do you think this or that will happen? If they knew and could post it, it would be on here.

I think the only team that would acquire Ramirez is St. Louis. I won't rule out Pittsburgh, but St. Louis is the logical choice, and as I said in the Peavy trade thread, I think they will pit LAA against the Sox trying to get the best deal possible between Aybar and Ramirez.

They already said Aybar isn't available

What would the Royals want with Rios? Do they think they are contending next year?

Why would we trade Beckham? He's finally showing something offensively.

They are 7 games out of the Central and 5 out of the second Wild Card spot. They are very much still alive.
