January 8, 201412 yr I'm so happy for Frank! For the first 7 years of his career, a Frank at-bat was a "stop what you're doing and watch" event. I was on my honeymoon in 1992 and we were about to leave the hotel and Frank was batting against the Royals. I was like, "Hang on just one sec. I gotta watch this." Of course, Frank blasts one over the CF wall. "Okay, we can go now".
January 8, 201412 yr Frank being the sideshow to Maddux, Glavine, and Cox (plus Torre and LaRussa) is so White Sox. Hey, he's in. He's in forever. Enjoy it.
January 8, 201412 yr QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 12:10 PM) I started to think about what Frank Thomas means to me and to my fandom. Tears started welling in my eyes. I wish like hell athletes didn't have to age. Oh good. I'm not the only one.
January 8, 201412 yr i just want to say that i am happy for the Big Hurt on getting into the Hall of Fame. i grew up watching Frank just like many others and he was one of THE BEST hitters (if not THE BEST) hitter in the 90s. it's great to see the voters put in 3 players that did things the RIGHT way and awarded these 3 guys. i really hope the voters keep out players like Giambi, Sosa, Bonds, Clemens, Palmeiro, etc...FOREVER. i also think if that if any of those players ever wants to be considered for the HOF, they should be forced to forfeit their awards and give them to the next guy in line. because i really believe Frank got robbed in 2000 of the MVP. there is no way Giambi was the better player that season. i don't care what the numbers say, although they were pretty even, but Giambi cheated baseball and kept Frank from getting that 3rd MVP which would have put him on an even shorter list of greats GO WHITE SOX!
January 8, 201412 yr QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 01:01 PM) Biggio at 74.8% Wow, you can put that directly on Gurnick.
January 8, 201412 yr QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 01:29 PM) Wow, you can put that directly on Gurnick. He fell 2 votes short.
January 8, 201412 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 01:27 PM) Epic fail on Whitesox.com not having Frank there already. He's up on the A's and Blue Jays' sites.
January 8, 201412 yr My earliest memory is when I was two years old I thought Frank hit a ball out of Comiskey Park. Amazing comparing Piazza and Frank's All-Star and Silver Slugger numbers. Frank was a worlds better hitter and it seems like they've acknowledged it now. His resume would have even more MVPs, All Stars and Silver Sluggers if not for the roiders.
January 8, 201412 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 01:27 PM) Epic fail on Whitesox.com not having Frank there already. KW's final revenge!
January 8, 201412 yr "Breaking news today in baseball, a pair of Braves are voted into the Hall of Fame with their manager, Bobby Cox. Among the others voted in was the slugger Frank Thomas."
January 8, 201412 yr It's weird. Does Frank count as a WS champion for '05? He played for the team that year and has a ring.
January 8, 201412 yr QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 08:33 PM) It's weird. Does Frank count as a WS champion for '05? He played for the team that year and has a ring. Of course
January 8, 201412 yr QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 01:34 PM) Of course It just feels like it's never mentioned.
January 8, 201412 yr QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 01:36 PM) It just feels like it's never mentioned. I stand by the thought that without his contributions in June, the Sox don't win the division. He hit a ton of big home runs.
January 8, 201412 yr We've obviously all known this was well-deserved for years, but I'm so glad it's now official.
January 8, 201412 yr QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 8, 2014 -> 01:31 PM) Does anyone know where I can get a Frank player-shirt? http://www.amazon.com/Chicago-Personalized...as+jersey+shirt And good idea. I just ordered one.
